Wow. I was just sitting here and Christy asked if I remembered that show in the ’70s where the network stars competed in games. Battle of the Network Stars. I had totally forgotten about it! What a time that was.

Coincidentally, I was just thinking about how random and shaggy Christmas trees seemingly were in older times.

I’m seeing a few articles like this, tying interest in compact discs and CD players explicitly to gen Z.

Demand for CD players rises 74% this year amid deluxe releases from artists such as Taylor Swift and Pink Floyd

I hope everyone gets a chance to watch this. It’s only 15 minutes long.
And now someone has uploaded a version that wasn't filmed off a TV.

There's also the torrent link there, which is probably the fastest way to download the 60 Minutes segment on CECOT if you want to save the file locally to your computer.

We were just out for a walk along the shoreline in Pacific Grove and saw a lot search-and-rescue activity on shore, in the water, and air. Heard it was a missing swimmer but didn't know was a suspected shark attack.

This is a surgical dismantling of yet another dumb Matt Yglesias argument by a former clean energy exec and current Representative. This is the sort of thing that should make people stop listening to people like Yglesias.

Read the whole thing.
This Yglesias piece in the NYT is horrifically bad. Almost every "fact" it cites is provably false. At best it is cocktail party banter from a pundit who knows nothing of energy. At worst, it was cut/paste from oil industry talking points. So, a rebuttal: www.nytimes.com/2025/12/18/o...

Well, it’s not every day you see a sitting Congressperson so utterly destroy a pundit’s argument with facts.

This has been said a million different times and ways and it never seems to penetrate but I’ll try again: Using AI to “do” art isn’t possible. Art is not the process of coming up with a good idea to get started and then executing it flawlessly in the style of someone you admire.

8. I am so appalled that the Trump/Ferguson FTC dropped this case. Local independent grocery stores are being driven out of business — and their customers forced to pay higher prices — by two powerful companies who've been told, in effect, that they can violate the law with impunity.

As always, I’m very pleased to see my rep @repmarkdesaulnier.bsky.social voted against the motion to table.
And now, the 47 cowardly Democrats who were whipped by leadership to vote 'present' on the impeachment resolution today:

Pete Aguilar of CA

Wesley Bell of MO

Ami Bera of CA

Don Beyer of VA

Janelle Bynum of OR

Ed Case of HI

Sean Casten of IL

Kathy Castor of FL
