The one time Georgia was able to rely on mail-in ballots due to the pandemic, the state swung left and sent two democratic senators to DC.

The next year, the R-controlled state passed aggressive legislation to suppress the vote further: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electio...

For the people asking me what I mean by "people over institutions" and "abolish the carceral state":

The American prison industrial complex is a for profit institution built on the systematic oppression and criminalization of racialized people. It should be eliminated.

One of the best Metroid games

Still hoping Nintendo makes it more readily available again in one form or another. But until then, it's absolutely worth tracking down if you haven't played it before
Retro Studios' Metroid Prime 2: Echoes was released 21 years ago today on GameCube.

Everyone acting like it's already a sure foregone conclusion Metroid Prime 4 is bad, yall are weird

A few previews were critical of one element of the section they played. That's it. You haven't played it. They barely played it. This is not a healthy way to engage with shit. Chill. Take a breath

I guess something in the most recent Windows update must have made Dolphin/Primehack very unhappy. Suddenly couldn't get any mouse input, seemed to be having really weird window focus problems

Finally got it working again by forcing the render window to stay on top. Still no idea what went wrong 🤷

Situations like this always remind me of how gamers spent years complaining that "games are too short! I need hours per dollar!". A few years later suddenly everyone is complaining that "games are all bloated 200 hour open worlds now!" with zero self reflection

They got what they said they needed

Hell, this isn't just a 'them damn zoomers always on their tiktoks thing' either.

I think in almost every Giant Bomb Quick Look video I've seen, the most veteran games journalists around just mash or talk through tutorials only to get confused and stuck ten minutes later when it's time to do stuff.
You wanna know why we're having nag line discourse in 2025? Because developers know we're fighting an attention economy war we'll lose no matter what. Players don't read, have TikTok open next to them, god forbid we are scared you miss something and then blame us for not giving you all the info.

Last night I watched a streamer in Arc that downed other players and then had them answer trivia questions in exchange for a revive. The questions were like "who runs this whole operation" and "what's the name of the cataclysmic event that led to all this" and lol no, gamers do not pay attention.

*sigh*

... people are gonna turn talking NPCs into the new yellow paint discourse, aren't they?

Cool. Cool cool cool

Oh this is super cool. I loved my first round through SHf and this makes me even more excited to get back to the NG+ cycles

Plus adding a new difficulty is such a good idea
Thank you to all SILENT HILL f players for your patience. Today we've released a patch that adds a new casual difficulty and addresses feedback we've received, including reducing the amount of forced combat areas, speeding up NG+ runs, and bug fixes such as Sakuko's diary in NG+.

You know Valve, releasing this shiny new Steam Machine of yours would be a great time to release a new game along with it just saying

Alright, that's Fatal Frame 4 done. It was... fine. If I spelled out all my thoughts it would probably sound like I disliked it more than I actually did. I'm glad I played it. But it sure made some choices I didn't vibe with and they cast some long shadows over the experience that are hard to ignore

Aaaand there goes Underrail off the wishlist. At least I hadn't bought it yet, unlike Peripeteia 😑
I hate to say it, but between this and Underrail it kinda feels like indie imsims/CRPGs are becoming to video games what black metal is to music.
Well, fuck. Revoking any and all Peripeteia recommendations (and I wish I could un-back it on Kickstarter) based on the very thinly veiled transphobia from the dev (the first one in the screenshots here).

I hate this.

Still a little concerned about this

Sure, on the one hand I'm glad Fatal Frame is back and it looks pretty good. But I'm worried it'll play like 4 and 5 and I just... don't want that. It's the same problem as the Wii port way back. I'd be much happier if 4 played like 2 than the other way around

Acquaintance grabbed these screencaps. Idk if it's getting purged.

"Second stage is people rejecting conspiracy discourse" is genuinely hilarious, I gotta teach em a little about Yakub and maybe they'll change their tune

I know it may seem that us Future Class folks don't seem to give Geoff any benefit of the doubt. But we have given him ample opportunities yet he consistently shows us what his priorities are: "his own bag, his rich friends, and positive press." Not supporting the industry that lets him have a show.
Apparently, Keighley doesn't have time to reply to @alyssamerc.bsky.social's request for comment, but he sure does have time to post about his latest business deal surrounding the awards on LinkedIn.

Well yeah, have you seen what happens to those who don't want to sign off on this? Can you really call that consent when the alternative is losing (or never getting) a job?

Some very charming robots, the world is a joy to explore, and pole vaulting is such an instantly fun twist on platforming that I can't believe more games haven't done it. Go check it out

It’s the same shit they make fun of republicans for. Leopards and Faces
Amazing moment in time right now where people who yelled at us for sticking to genocide as a red line are now also disgusted with Democrats and threatening not to vote for them. So your health insurance becoming more expensive was your red line?

For the record, this is why I don't care much for defenses of institutions or procedures. No institution has ever cried out in pain or experienced fear or been hungry or had an illness. Only human beings do that.
