I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Before Stephen Norrington set the style of comic book movies for the next 10+ years he made this crazy blend of The Terminator, Die Hard and Evil Dead. Brad Dourif puts on a clinic in crazed villainy and the titular Death Machine is awesome. So much ingenuity and creativity, I love this movie.
