People don’t get that Hollywood is incredibly conservative. There’s no industry that’s more risk-averse. They’re the people who will only laugh at a joke if everyone else laughs first.
When I've patiently explained to someone who has absolutely no links to this industry beyond me how it's actually VERY HARD to get in to television and I haven't been lucky or talented or pretty enough to crack that code yet and they then suggest "what about America?" I just start fully crying.

On this day in 1842, about two dozen persons escape from Cherokee slave plantations and head for Mexico, where slavery had been abolished in 1829. Along the way, they pick up more escapees and kill two slave catchers, are eventually recaptured but inspire future revolts in Indian Territory.

I have zero compunction about people making jokes about Kirk's death but in all seriousness I don't think that murdering people is good or righteous and I can't find any way to view a 22 year old memelord facing the death penalty as a worthwhile contribution to the politics I care about.
