Immigration officers are caught on video violating policy, training, and settled law pretty much every day. The administration just cheers them on. What makes anyone think they're going to implement any of these "guardrails?" They think de-escalation is woke.

Beyond the fact that this bugfuck insane letter was written and sent to the leader of Norway, the State Dept agreeing to distribute it to other heads of state instead of objecting and honorably resigning or at the very least planning some kind of coverup is a sign of deep institutional collapse.

I think the takeaway here is not "The EU is ready to go to war with the USA over Greenland."
Maybe they are, but I think that's still opaque.
The real takeaway here, I think, is that the EU has concluded that flattery and conciliation approach is a dead-end.

As a Canadian, my advice: do it anyways.
It's effectively impossible to boycott US companies because they own so many British brands. You'd have to stop buying Cadburys, Walkers Crisps, HP sauce.... or shopping at Gails or Waterstones etc etc...
