"as we swerve into the homestretch of the actual 2025, that anger feels prescient—rejuvenating, even. Tearing society apart at its sinew, screaming into the face of every rich monster who’s made your life miserable, bathing in their pain: That’s that me espresso." - @sinacolad.bsky.social

For the @portlandmercury.com I reviewed THE RUNNING MAN, lamenting how it’s not even close to the rage-filled bonanza it could have been:

I love how AI and technology is now wholly geared towards letting you off the hook for feeling anything that is remotely part of human life: grief, guilt, boredom, stress, empathy, fear, love

TRAIN DREAMS starts this weekend at the @hollywoodtheatre.org, one of only a few chances you'll have to see it in a theater before it dumps to Netflix. My review at the @portlandmercury.com:

Repertory film screenings trend surreal and nonlinear this month, with cinemas showing The Double Life of Véronique, The Color of Pomegranates, Memoria, and other films that ask for your focus and faith. Read why they're worth it on Second Run.
Where to Watch Folkloric Films and Arthouse Classics This Month
Unlike some months, the repertory movie screenings of November lack a natural theme. But our indie cinemas have still formed a united front, choosing films that ask their audiences to hang tight with ...

The worst part about that awful “Meet Me in the Bathroom” doc was letting this guy talk so much.

Adapted from a novella by Denis Johnson, Train Dreams is very plainly one of the most beautiful films of 2025. You've got two weeks to see it in a theater, preferably in the Pacific Northwest, before it ends up on Netflix.

We are blessed to have the Hollywood and such a dependable place to see so many movies on actual film, but one of my favorite recent experiences was going to the surprise VHS kung-fu night and seeing 1983 masterpiece DUEL TO THE DEATH projected in glorious tape quality on the largest screen.

I don’t cover transpo in Portland but I live in District 1 and I gotta say, it is just a blood bath out here with traffic violence. Two pedestrian fatalities last night (102 & Halsey and 122 & Glisan). These lives are just two of the countless consequences of ignoring an entire corner of the city…

I reviewed the new one from professional weirdo Yorgos Lanthimos.
In Bugonia, Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons plead, bicker, debate, somersault over, and gnash at one another as the truth begins to unglue. Yorgos Lanthimos has never been so much fun.

I wish I had a job where I never had to know what’s going on ever.
Q: Just last week a minister was shot directly in the face with a pepper round by a DHS agent that left his face bloodied. Are you concerned that this is a religious freedom issue?

MIKE JOHNSON: I can't comment on any of those instances. I haven't seen or heard any of those videos
