May this one day happen to them.
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

I have a friend who said, of Starfleet Academy, that this took them out of it - that seeing a person in a wheelchair in the 32nd century seemed unrealistic, since medicine in Star Trek "should be able to cure whatever was wrong with them."

That's not the case, for any number of possible reasons.

I’ve never been a big fan of bread machines cause I admit I’m a bit of a bread snob and always felt it wasn’t as good as handmade but then my dad got me this zojirushi bread maker that makes essentially a mini-loaf (a half loaf) and y’all I’m obsessed with it?? I just have fresh bread…all the time??

related to the view among the professional commentariat that only students at ivys and boutique liberal arts colleges actually matter
This elitist view that only rich/Ivy/private school kids should study/have access the liberal arts is so deeply ingrained in so many highly educated Democrats’ views (including tons who majored in the lib arts themselves) that they don’t even realize they hold it, let alone how ugly & elitist it is
(3) But the Democrat view is also bad: while it's fine for people at Princeton and Harvard to study Latin and Sanskrit, public higher education is about job training and $ ROI. There is no room for the idea that curiosity-driven inquiry is a good that should be supported by the public.

My grand theory of the appeal of trash like NFTs, crypto, "A.i.," Kalshi, Polymarket, etc.:

Our social safety net is so bad that millions of people can't see any way to ever achieve financial security or even basic health care without hitting some kind of jackpot.

So scams are very attractive!

Okay, couldn't find the answer until the 6th paragraph, but the Ds appear to be on the right side here - pushing for MORE regulation of these evil platforms.

(And yes, I'm for banning them entirely, fwiw.)

In our modern information environment it's often hard to know what's true but a shortcut that will never fail you is: this government is lying until proven otherwise. An accusation against them of corruption, sadism, criminality, is probably true

remember when centrists would call you an insane person if you said jeff bezos ownership is going to run the washington post into the ground
For those of you keeping score at home, the actual cut to the Post newsroom was 45%, not the widely reported one third. Remaining journalists are a bit over 400, down from around 1100 four years ago and 580 when Bezos bought the place.

this is comically evil. brazenly anti-social. just absolute black-pilled nihilism. we will not have a republic, we will not be free, until we regulate these companies to the point where — at a bare minimum — they're too afraid to put stuff like this down on paper.

Palantir needs out of the UK government on every level. Any British chums please sign this!
Palantir, a US spy-tech firm, has been given access to millions of NHS patient records.

Its founder has said the NHS should be 'ripped up'.

Join me in calling on the government to end the dangerous Palantir contract.
