May 18, 1980 - Mt St Helens erupted in southern Washington state

It was the deadliest eruption in US history, killing 57. Fortunately, probably fewer died thanks to warnings from government funded geophysicists monitoring the volcano

Wondering if Canada can boost their quantity of covid and flu vaccines for all the US citizens who are willing to cross the border and pay for them. Happy to make an appointment now.

100 days into this presidency, Americans are paying the price - higher prices, crashing retirement accounts, and broken promises.

But the American people are turning, thanks to your voices. Keep it up.

It's up to us to demand something better.

In a really important passage, the judge rejects the relevance of the Second Red Scare precedents that the govt is relying upon, and affirms the significance of the 1A interests at stake here. The opinion makes clear how egregious the govt's actions have been.

Huge sigh of relief that Canada has held the line against moving far right. Keeping Carney in office brings a lot of hope to this American. Thank you Canada.

The head of our country’s government is in the early stages of consolidating total power. We must of course reject this, but that is not enough. We have to respond by creating a different and better kind of American politics than we have seen before.

You saw the video of the ICE agent breaking a car window near the border, right? He wasn’t an ICE agent. He’s the founder of Veterans on Patrol, a FAR-RIGHT MILITIA patrolling the border for migrants. They’re basically deputizing militias to act as federal agents. This is dangerously out of control

Pete Buttigieg and David Brooks both ask what do we want as a society when we get the chance to move forward. What are your priorities?

Just waiting for “stand my ground” to meet the brown shirts and unidentified ICE agents. Not following the law of identification, warrants and non-masked agents is going to end up hurting someone beyond the unlawful kidnapping.

There’s just so much shady shit in this story, but this really sticks out. Folks in NLRB’s IT unit were so freaked out by what they saw DOGE doing that they wanted to notify the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Then this happened:

At a GOP town hall last night, heckling from constituents was apparently too much to handle—so they used police force and even stun guns on their own constituents. What are they so afraid of? Someone disagreeing with their views?

I’m about to board my flight to El Salvador, where I hope to meet with senior government officials to discuss the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

I also hope to see Kilmar and check on his condition — and remind him that we won’t stop fighting until he’s home.
