You spelled "legalized bribery" incorrectly, my friend.

The main problem in the US, is that very rich people have decided that many of us are surplus to their requirements, and they have basically captured the government.

We have term limits and they are called elections. We need small donor match public financing, non-partisan redistricting, and expanding the number of seats in the House to make progress.
Term limits allow lobbyists to run the show even more than they do now. My answer is to end the influence of lobbying by ending the private funding of campaigns. Just go all the way. These are public offices. They should not and cannot continue to be privately owned.
We need term limits for US Senators, Congressional representatives, and SCOTUS.

Also, we need leaders who actually enforce the US Constitution.

Level the playing field as in provide more ability to the non-rich to be donors, which can drown out the influence of the rich as donors. See ideas like democracy vouchers and small donor public matching. UBI would partly function in this way.

Seattle implemented democracy vouchers and successfully increased the number of small donors competing against big donors.

NYC implemented small donor matching and successfully increased the amount of donations from small donors to compete against big donors.

This stuff helps. Don't scoff at it.

CAP has entered the chat. This is *totally* unfair. You are making me choose between my two favorite democracy reforms: my thing, and democracy vouchers, which are by far the best form of public financing. Tim’s right. They can work together.
