Debate culture is trash, and the people who engage in it are trash. They aren't coming to the table in good faith, because the purpose of debate is not to learn, but to score points against your opponent for an audience. That's why I don't talk to people who want to debate me; they're disrespectful.
“Debate Me” culture is not organic, endemic, or apolitical. This mode of high jacking discourse is and has been central to a 30-year conservative training program that has produced untold numbers of people to do this for every reason but “civil discourse”
It's wild to me how ostensibly smart people cannot/could not/will not see what is so obvious.

If we transported 2025 Charlie Kirk back to 2012 he would have been widely considered the most vile and contemptible human being in politics, worse even than Limbaugh. That he wasn't in 2025 is a testament to how much of a permission structure for gutter racism the right has built.
