I do not want to “Do my own research.” I want to pay trained accredited experts to do the research, trained accredited experts to report on findings, and trained accredited experts to make policy based on them.

I am busy af with my own job, I don’t need to do eight zillion more.

FYI, if you're someone that likes to tuck into some Christmas TV movie rom-coms this time of year, I've directed two with Asian-American casts: A SUGAR & SPICE HOLIDAY (2020) can be streamed right on Lifetime's website (US only). A BIG FAT FAMILY CHRISTMAS (2022) is on Hallmark+ or Crave in Canada.
Four Christmas movies to know me by.

I have to go with the ones I directed, in between my main specialty genres of horror and crime and supernatural strangeness. (And there are only two.)

Key point whenever you see an Altman prediction: the purpose of his predictions is *not* to accurately guess the future but build rationales in the present favorable to his company's interests. If you ignore everything he says you'll be smarter about AI.
Altman, and all these folks don't make predictions in order to predict the future, they make them to a) justify an overclocked corporate valuation, and b) argue for undoing regulations and receiving government support.

This government has failed to invest in social programs, public housing, healthcare, education, research, green technologies, and public transit, all of which is desperately needed, much more than projects that accelerate the climate crisis and leave Canadians struggling with affordability.

Alice Wong was a fierce and kind light in the world, I loved her writing and learned so much from it as the granddaughter/daughter/sister of disabled people. I take solace in how my timeline is filled with love for and tribute to her.

This has always been one of my favorite quotes of Alice's. I think it explains the easy affinity between disability communities, queer communities (forged in the shadow of AIDS) and Palestinian communities (formed in the shadow of genocide): death is our "intimate shadow partner"—& so is love.
‘Death remains my intimate shadow partner. It has been with me since birth, always hovering close by. I understand one day we will finally waltz together into the ether. I hope when that time comes, I die with the satisfaction of a life well-lived, unapologetic, joyful, & full of love.’

$1 billion data centre to maybe create 100 jobs. That's likely an overstatement.

It is truly not worth draining the living word for this vampiric tech and people are starting to realize it.

This is a REALLY important story, Canada. The Carney government's push to AI our entire country is going to hurt so many people and cause SO much damage to our communities. The government isn't doing ANYTHING to try and mitigate the harms data centres are going to cause, either.

"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Porn is also history and cultural commentary and a crucial contributor to sexual self- exploration and self expression. Porn has been vital to queer and trans people in documenting important aspects of our language, presentation, interactions, relationships, institutions and communities.

There has been a noticeable reticence in left and liberal circles to voice full-throated support for pornography, even as it's become increasingly clear what the open end goals of the censorship movement are

The difference is that men make their loneliness everyone else's goddamn problem and that includes turning it into anger and violence.

Half of young Canadian men risk letting their anger interfere with their daily life, relationships and work, new research suggests.

I think it is really important for people to understand that a TV show, book, or film doesn't need to be good in order to be enjoyed. But also that enjoying a piece of entertainment doesn't necessarily mean it's good. Quality is separate from your experience.
