I've said it once and I'll say it again... One individual's work, no matter how monumental, is barely a drop in the ocean compared to what culture has lost in the tapestry of voices suppressed by the norms of harassment, abuse, and marginalization of voices other than the most societally dominant.
"We would have lost so much if we'd driven him away" is the justification.
But we lost all those girls. We lost the women they would have become. We lost the work they would have done. Why was his future work so much more valuable than theirs?
