A last holiday treat for me: Knit Mitts by the incredible @kateatherley.bsky.social - I can't wait to start some mittens in the new year! The multiple pages of stitch counts for various sizes and gauges makes the book worth the money even before you get to the patterns!

PSA: You don’t owe anyone an explanation about the health reasons why you are wearing a mask.

Badgering others about the tools they need to survive is stigmatizing and ableist, and should have no place in decent society.

Toronto friends: looking for a recommendation for a really good egg roll, ideally downtown east/east-end. No, not spring rolls. Egg rolls. They are surprisingly hard to find these days, other than mall food courts apparently. Ideas gratefully received! Thank you!

Is it even Christmas if you haven't a text from a friend who is worried that the cookies they decorated for this evening's gathering "look deranged"

Kate will never admit RED OCTOBER is her favorite movie, but then things like this happen.
... and now we have to watch THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER again. That movie works like the Tom Holland Umbrella video in this house. Any mention of it instantly means a rewatch is required.
My gift to you all this year is the news that The Hunt for Red October (which celebrates its 35 year birthday this year) is a Christmas movie.

Settle down for the story. Okay, two stories.

There's a song called "Zombie Christmas" how could we not love it? Seriously though it's my favourite Christmas album.
And speaking of great Christmas anthems @kateatherley.bsky.social would never forgive me if I didn't shout out this modern classic from Emmy the Great and Tim Wheeler. The whole album is brilliant, really.

Every Christmas since 2020 I have specifically made a trifle to be eaten for breakfast. (No jelly, we don't roll that way, but yes with the booze. It's Christmas after all.)
