2025 was the pits in many ways, but not all ways. Our pals at @microcosm.bsky.social have been a source of joy, support and deep nerdy conversations, and partnering with them to make our books available worldwide has been the absolute best. The True Cost of Wool is about the wool industry in Canada - the harsh realities of the current situation, the potential for change, the barriers. It makes one value local fibre that much more. A slim tome packed with detailed research that tells an important story.

As the year wraps up I'm highlighting a few of the books I read in 2025 that have stuck with me!

Non-fiction -The True Cost of Wool by Anna Hunter! (Paired with a book I featured last year as the two are in such close conversation: Vanishing Fleece by Parkes).
Why has this one stuck with me? 1/2

i would like to attest to the fact that my knitting has definitely benefitted from Kate Atherley's "capable & straightforward guidance". I am still indebted to her for solving the pointy ears problem when grafting toes. 🧶🧦

I legit committed to @ninetenpub.bsky.social's biggest (by 2x) print run ever based on 1 viral IG post about the book, 1 email from a massive knitting business that resulted in 80 pre-orders in a day, and like 5 days of pacing and muttering and deciding to trust my gut.

Still thinking about Heated Rivalry as a huge publishing story. I cannot stop. I'd ask for someone to send help, but this whole thing is really just giving me life, tbh.
Heated Rivalry is on the NYT Bestseller list this week (combined print and e-book fiction – imagine if paperbacks weren't sold out everywhere!!), and 3 books from the series, including HR obvs, are among Amazon US's top-10 most-sold books (all formats).

I'm chewing on an idea and asked newsletter subscribers about it today. I can't duplicate the poll here, but I'd love to know what you think—leave a reply, eh? The idea would be to set up a simple membership for connecting, sharing feedback about Nine Ten project ideas, maybe video call meetups...
