Worth noting that because Sim brought forward his proposal for a property tax freeze requiring millions in cuts with just weeks left in the budget process, this is not up for public debate and is not outlined in the documents available to councillors when they vote on this
SCOOP: Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim is planning to eliminate the city's sustainability and climate department under the guise of a push to prevent increases to property taxes in his proposed 2026 budget.

Being, like, unabashedly decisive is one of the most freeing things I've learned to be in my 40s. 10/10 highly recommend.

So many great questions... This one is aimed at knitters rather than designers, but am getting the sense there might be an interest in a more advanced book, that covers grading? ... Should I?
Patty Lyons is doing an IG giveaway for a copy of my Math for Knitters book - hint hint... To enter, you need to leave a comment talking about what math you want to learn. The questions are great, I love it! www.instagram.com/p/DQ12wfbEu35/ 🧶

Folks, MATH FOR KNITTERS is listed as a pre-order at @microcosm.bsky.social because the reprint is making its way to their warehouses. They sold out of the first batch of books I sent them. A good challenge to face, and more books are on the move as I type this. Thanks for your patience!

The streetlights were on when I drove home from a funeral at 3:30 PM today. It felt like dusk. A fitting atmosphere for a funeral and its attendant sadness, but it was in stark contrast to the light and colour my friend brought to the world.

I didn't know my suburban public high school gave a Eugene V. Debs award to a graduating senior until they called my name in the auditorium in the spring of 1994. As I walked to the stage in a daze, I whispered to myself, "How did they know?"
“The sun may have set over our city this evening. But as Eugene Debs once said, ‘I can see the dawn of a better day for humanity.’”

My kid and I were looking for a new show. Somehow got him to watch The West Wing, and he did not complain (in the end he said it was kind of boring, but that barely counts). I forgot the ep ended after the best MC entrance ever. I may just get him to watch the 2nd episode with me.
