This is a game-changer, especially while I'm home for a couple days by myself, with strict orders not to bear any weight whatsoever on my possibly broken foot. With crutches, you can't carry anything!

So, once more I'm home from our summer holiday a few days before the rest of my family. This time because I may have broken my foot 🙄 Hopefully a CT is in my near future to confirm or deny. I left rural BC in an air cast, with crutches. And my god are crutches the absolute worst. So...

Never not dramatic, I guess, now we're back to: Did I actually break my foot? CT will tell, hopefully within a few days. For now, we're all laughing at how dreadfully ungraceful I am 🦶

This is the manic look of a publisher whose startup press's 5th book is a @theglobeandmail.com bestseller on the holiday weekend, and who just bought 6 copies of the paper and who can't stop smiling. Congratulations, @longwayhomestead.bsky.social!!!

Last year my kid was on a truly magical baseball team that won the Western Canadian championship for their division, and last night they were featured at a @vancanadians.bsky.social game on a night celebrating the league they play in. It was the best kind of reunion and my heart is full ❤️⚾️🌅

On a day that started with errands followed by a teen baseball double header, I managed to spend a few minutes at @bookwarehouse.bsky.social on Main for Indie Bookstore Day, and it was glorious. I scored a mystery book and I'm excited to read it! #cibd2025

Waited in line for an hour to vote at the Dunbar Community Centre, where 1200 people have already voted today. Poll worker said for the last by-election maybe twenty people had voted by this time of day. Way to exercise democracy, Vancouver! #VancouverElection

Today I will work on 2nd round edits of @longwayhomestead.bsky.social's book about the supply chain of Canadian wool, speak on the record with an old friend writing for a US-based trade publication about tariffs, and contemplate the timing of having bought a used car yesterday of all days 🤨

This is Cedar. Cedar knows how to just take a freaking moment. Thank you, Cedar, for the inspiration.

We are deep into an unsettling stretch of sunny days for Vancouver in January. But I will pause my climate angst to say this: Two years ago I hauled a literal ton of books to my house from our local printer in wet snow. Last year a pallet of books arrived in the pouring rain. Today is much easier.

It's a Bestie Bag. It's still got thread bits stuck to it all over the place. The purple is old curtains. The zipper is red because I already had it. It's fully lined, with slip pockets. It's outrageous. I love it.

Last baseball tournament of the season, and my baseball shawl has been finished for weeks (there's been SO MUCH baseball).

Pattern: Seraphina's Shawl
Yarn: Noro, but I can't remember which.

I will begin here by sharing my weaving, because this is how I want it to be.
