There's a super-viral post going around on here with replies and quotes disabled that is just a rip-off of someone else's image from more than a decade ago. See old.reddit.com/r/mildlyinte... for what *might* be the original source but it's hard to say.

This is a famously messy Norwegian biathlete who was banned in 2023 from the Biathlon World Cup because he accidentally fired his competition rifle in his hotel room (he was also teary and apologetic then)
new most bizarre moment of the Olympics just dropped

Norwegian biathlete wins bronze medal, then, totally unprompted, reveal he cheated on his GF, she left him, and he wants to apologize publicly hoping she takes him back

HENCH is also for sale from Bookshop.org, which is a fantastic way to buy directly from independent booksellers. Thank you so much for bringing this to me!

HENCH, my first book, is on sale right now on both Amazon and Kobo for only $1.99!

The sequel, VILLAIN, is coming out in May -- so if you enjoy supervillains, body horror and questionable morals, this is a great time to begin the series.

I've lived alone for 30ish years, all without a doorbell camera. Mind you my house only had two bedrooms so maybe that was the issue 🙄

But to be fair, the issue isn't the cameras, it's what's being done with the data.
I lived alone in a 3 bedroom house before I sold it. Not having a camera just wasn't smart in my case. Simplisafe is inexpensive and service is great.

Some folks have kids or other dependents. It's okay to use the technology that's available to keep people safe, just not Ring.

The mayor of Toronto is a socialist Asian Canadian woman so...... 🤷🏼‍♀️

Once again, American exceptionalism is anything but.
Even in this thoughtful and excellent essay, the exceptionalism is hard to shake. "Where else but in America could a left-wing, brown-skinned immigrant, a racialised ‘other’, become the mayor of a globally influential city?" Who is the mayor of London? Who are the mayors of Montreal and Toronto?
‘As the Swedish diplomatic historian Anders Stephanson writes, “the alarming fact” is that “everyone on this earth has an enormous stake in how the United States chooses to be and act in this world.” Not just enormous, but existential.’

Everyone making noise about Olympic Skater Ilia Malinin (a white dude) pulling off the first legal backflip in competition as if he is a revolutionary skater needs to remember Surya Bonaly (black girl) completed a backflip in the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics and was penalized for it

I keep hearing how pointless the knit hats are but even aside from the money those have raised, visual symbols of how many of us there are are good. It's solidarity building and keeps the goons from telling themsrlves everyone secretly agrees with them. Nobody's KNITTING a statement they dislike.

Armies wear uniforms for a reason. And not just because it makes the laundry easier.

I am reminded of certain lilac blossoms on a certain Glorious 25th of May. How do you tell your comrades from your potential murderers? A carrot, a leek, a lilac sprig, a red knitted hat, a frog costume.

Duh.

Sometimes watching the Olympics is so distracting you can only maintain enough attention to knit a garter stitch scarf, and Shelly the Desk Crab says that's ok 😉
