Excellent article by @laurenpelley.bsky.social explaining why the flu shot remains important (and if you haven't gotten the shot yet, now is the time - infections are rising). #vaccineswork

What’s the point of getting a flu shot this year? Here’s what the science says | CBC News
Some scientists say this year's flu shot isn't well matched to a key strain that could spread widely in the months ahead. So, is there still a point in getting it? Medical experts say: absolutely. Her...

So many great questions... This one is aimed at knitters rather than designers, but am getting the sense there might be an interest in a more advanced book, that covers grading? ... Should I?

One question that comes up a lot... "I am a tight/loose knitter so I need to adjust the pattern". Without being dismissive, the answer is no. It doesn't matter if you knit tight or loose! Just swatch to determine the needle size that is right for you to hit gauge, no adjustments needed.

This is a lovely piece of writing about joy and heartbreak and being open to it all.
I wrote about the Blue Jays, and how I'm grateful to have been open to the possibility of something hurting this much, because it means I was ready for the joy, too. ruheedewji.com/2025/11/06/f...

In all my years of inhabiting craft spaces, I learned this: when people meet and hands are busy creating, minds are changed.

That is why some of the most radical policies can be traced back through quilts, needle points, and lacemaking.

That tradition is alive & kicking.
Was this the best use of my time today? No. Is it the most amusing way I could have spent the last 90 minutes? Absolutely. Pattern is free here: bit.ly/4nGGCGc

@kateatherley.bsky.social thank you so much for writing these books. I just received Math for Knitters and I’m feeling much more confident in my ability to adapt a sweater pattern for my next project.

An American father and his teenage son died after being stung by swarms of venomous wasps on a zip-lining tour through the tropical forests of northern Laos last month.

Saw a video saying "If your yarns are twisting when you're working stranded colourwork, it's a sure sign you are messing up your colour dominance" GOOD GRIEF NO. It's a sign that you're making your life harder in the way you are handling your yarns, but it's got NOTHING to do with colour dominance.

We have different strategies for dealing with the time change @normwilner.bsky.social changes all the (not-automated) clocks before going to bed. I think I prefer to change them in the morning. N wants an extra hour sleep, I want an extra hour in my day.
