People who make primary source documents easily accessible to the public are the best

Thank you @paulgp.com
For folks (and journalists) who want to search the Oversight Committee email texts, I made a database for searching the 20k text files:

this is the reason i haven't let myself invest in this at all. i don't know what the exact wording of the house petition is, but it ultimately doesn't matter. they'll stonewall it, SCOTUS will bless that stonewall (giving kav his wish of overturning nixon), and that'll be the end of it

One major problem keeping LLMs from being a viable automation tool for protection rackets is their inability deliver physical threats. In this paper we lay out a simple tool use framework by which LLM agents can hire hitmen on the dark web, lending improved credibility to generative threats.

I need "The Left" to understand that, "ooh we can recruit off of this" is the exact same thing as Democrats saying "ooh we can run fundraise off of this." They're all just doing marketing.

RIP federal weed legalization 2018-2026, it lived by the hasty and ill-considered appropriations process and will now die by it

It looked to me like Trump was about to rip up his Congressional relationship to kill the filibuster, and, like maybe even find a way to get himself big, wet impeached.

And yet the dickless wonders didn't want to let that play out.

this is senate dems’ second coordinated “just enough” vote to help republicans and betray house dems of the year, remember
The final tally to advance the CR is 62-38.

The Democrats who voted for cloture, giving Donald Trump everything he wants:

Cortez Masto (NV)
Durbin (IL)
Fetterman (PA)
Gillibrand (NY)
Hassan (NH)
Peters (MI)
Schatz (HI)
Schumer (NY)
Shaheen (NH)

there are dozens of us! (i think bing playing chess via notation is specifically convinced me of this)
i think that i am pretty alone in the "have achieved 'AGI' / not particularly impressed by it" quadrant, simply because the average human capability in any arbitrary intellectual task they are not trained in is naively near zero and the average LLM can do better on that task than a person on day one

the house isn't the senate, where you can take hall passes while staying useful on side for confirmations and reconciliation. if you aren't voting with the caucus, you might as well not be there. golden voted against ARP, against BBBA, against debt relief, and wouldn't even endorse kamala harris!
Anybody celebrating Jared Golden retiring is not serious about taking back the House. His decision makes it dramatically harder for Democrats to hold that seat.

Nancy Mace has now made 97 posts about the incident in the airport where she cursed out police officers.

"where's the good stuff?" is probably the biggest gripe you can fairly lodge with AI. mainstream models seem optimized for gacha at the shallowest possible local minima. the correct answer is probably "some people are using comfyUI selectively in a larger human process while wisely keeping quiet"
There is something truly remarkable about Generative AI.

Several years in this revolution, half of the US GDP dumped to make these tools free, and i can't think of a single generated artifact, text, image, sound, video that had a significant cultural impact.
