Happy 36th anniversary to the North American release of Super Mario Bros. 3 on the NES!
Though I maintain that Super Mario World on the Super NES is the better game, Super Mario Bros. 3 was a much, much bigger deal because more people in North America were simultaneously excited for it.

I had a really interesting chat today with a game creator who casually admitted that a popularly cited piece of trivia about their series is totally fabricated. They just made it up on the spot decades ago because they were bored and it has been repeated ever since. Hilarious.

Minnesota still needs your attention
This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.
