I saw Tracy Letts’s Bug off-Broadway when Michael Shannon was in it. And it’s so rare to see a Broadway revival version one-up its original predecessor, but tonight’s production of Bug on Broadway with Carrie Coons did just that.

It’s always so weird that the Grammys mean nothing to me. I’m considered an honest-to-goodness music professional in many different areas, and still… I don’t care.

My new pin says “Defund ICE not NPR”, but the “not” is very small, so I’m realizing from afar, it looks like I’m anti-ICE and NPR. Doh.

I was excited to see a familiar face on the Antarctic expedition blog. JM has been sending me pics/updates of his travels, but there are strict guidelines about what is allowed to be publicly shared. So I was excited to have something to show everyone!

This administration is stark raving mad, and it is controlled by men - Vance, Miller, Bovino - are all-but-publicly taking orders from neo-Nazis bent on violent removal of nonwhite Americans. The admin barely hides many of these links. And it is driving a campaign of ethnic violence in our country.

I know the music licensing part of the quote isn’t the point. But as a music supervisor for public television, my struggles somehow feel seen.
“This has to be the most expensive documentary ever made that didn’t involve music licensing.-- said Ted Hope. "How can it not be equated with currying favor or an outright bribe? How can that not be the case?” www.nytimes.com/2026/01/28/b...

This song was on the radio and that required me to once again revisit the insane brilliance of Michel Gondry's 1999 video for it, in which he recreates 70s/80s analog video FX with meticulously staged choreography. Just in case anyone hasn't seen this gem from the peak music video era:

The word armadillo is borrowed from Spanish and simply means “little armored one.” But an even better word for an armadillo, in my opinion, is the Nahuatl ayotochtli. It means “turtle rabbit.”

Your Libby rental was free for you, but did you know it cost the D.C. Public Library $59.99?

The e-book boom (and a complicated pricing model from publishers) has left library systems strapped for cash. But D.C. lawmakers have a plan to fight back. 51st.news/ebooks-are-e...

I can't put into words the feeling of watching our government, a hive of evil antisocial filth, the absolute worst humanity has to offer, colliding with the best. Ordinary people trying to help each other, risking everything to stand up for what's plainly, unambiguously fair and right. It's unreal

That's one step beyond Jeffries, who did not whip the vote, which allowed enough Democratic support to pass the DHS piece.
