Giving large sums of money to Republicans is much cheaper than paying taxes.
The tech industry has no better friend in its drive for deregulation and tax avoidance around the world than Donald Trump. His bullying has led countries to give up their sovereign power to safeguard the public interest. And now Big Tech is asking for more. From me:

Where Big Tech and Trump Are Demanding Tax Cuts and Deregulation - The American Prospect
A new analysis shows that Big Tech is seeking changes to national law in 64 countries. The Trump regime is helping them.

Incredible.
WH sources say Venezuela's opposition leader committed the "ultimate sin": She accepted the Nobel Peace prize.

“If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,” one said.

I've long said that @sethburn.bsky.social is one of the best interviewers I've ever met, and this interview is a good reason as to why. Witty, funny, and genuinely fascinating from start to finish, I had so much fun reading and editing it.
Hi everyone, we have a new interview for you. 🥰

Seth Burn had a chance to talk author P Moss about his new novel, his experience running several bars, and more. It's a fascinating read and we hope you enjoy it.

Nah. Normal corruptiion these days.
Mind blowing corruption
New reporting says Don Jr. directly facilitated the pardon of a crypto whale who had promoted the Trump's family crypto. Jr. brought the pardon lawyer to the White House, and introduced him directly to his Dad. Pardon occurred right after. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/pardon-the...

Michael is right of course, but there's something to the fact that survivorship bias is a hell of a drug. No one who was saved by lockdowns and masks knows that. They felt the costs, but have no way of recognizing the benefits.

That's where math comes in. And the math is clear. The book is bollocks
This is genuinely horrifying. Fact-free far-right agitprop given accolades by credible media across the political spectrum.

LOL, no.

Ellison did not buy CBS for it to run negative stories about Trump. It really is that simple.
What we have here is a top editor spiking a story not because of serious editorial concerns, but because:

1) she is insecure and needs to assert authority;

2) she wants to drive serious journalists out of CBS; and

3) she craves attention, which is her oxygen.

Especially number 3
Bari Weiss, cont'd: "I held that story because it wasn't ready. The story presented very powerful testimony of abuse in CECOT, but that testimony has already been reported... The public knows that Venezuelans have been subjected to horrific treatment in this prison... we simply need to do more."

Putin wants Trump to weaken America. This is just another example.
Unbelievable. This would be a terrible blow to American science, writ large. It would decimate not only climate research, but also the kind of weather, wildfire, and disaster research that has underpinned half a century of progress in prediction, early warning, and increased resilience.
Exclusive: The Trump administration is moving to dismantle the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Colorado, according to a senior White House official, taking aim at one of the world's leading climate research labs.

If you want to get the money, you help Republicans win elections.
This, for the love of all that is holy

Compliant and credulous media will be the death of the republic
There's no rule of journalism that says you have to show a president telling lie after lie – uncorrected – many times a day. That's a decision that corporate media are making for purposes other than delivering the truth to the public.

That's not how it's supposed to work anymore.
David Ellison appears to be mortified that CBS/60 Minutes is “going rogue” by covering the news and by keeping him “in the dark” about a segment critical of Trump.

Because Ellison doesn’t realize that’s how it’s supposed to work.

It's an exceptional book. If the movie stays true to the book, then yes, she's going to go through a lot.
A walloping nightmare of a coming-of-age crime story. The film has no qualms about putting its preteen heroine through more extreme trauma than a lifetime of therapy could ever hope to heal. Ana Sophia Heger is remarkable in the role, projecting both inner strength and premature world weariness.
