This is called OTHERING —creating an US v THEM dynamic :: a process where a group is viewed as fundamentally different and even less than human,— here it’s being used to make it palpable to believe all undocumented people are criminals based upon their race— as Nazis did with Jews.

An underrecognized--but massive--threat to our democracy in the current moment is that Trump has Brown Shirts. He has lone wolfs. He also has coordinated extra-legal militia support. He pardoned the Jan 6ers. These folks are certainly active now. Recall Murkowski's comments yesterday.

Democrats say everyone residing in this country deserves due process before they can be imprisoned. But do they have a plan to pay for it?

This is the *official* FB page of the Cambria County (PA) GOP. If an individual posted this on their own behalf, it would be unremarkable. But a political party posting this is Christian Nationalism, the belief that Christians are “real Americans” and others are less so.

Just a reminder how classic what we're seeing is:
1. redefine a group as a threat to civilization
2. reduce legal protections that they enjoy
3. abuse, threaten, harm, and/or relocate them
4. dismiss/ignore concerns about abuses and harms from the process
5. repeat steps 2-4, escalating each time
Confession that due process is or should be optional according to the vice president

If you're a reporter in a White House press briefing as the spokesperson for the government asserts flatly that Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a member of the MS-13 gang who's guilty of human trafficking and you sit there silently without shouting out "PROVE IT!" I'd like to invite you to go fuck yourself.

If law professors are unwilling to stand up for the rule of law and the most basic principles at the core of our constitutional order as sacrosanct, there is no point in teaching constitutionalism in law schools at all.

Things I could live with for two weeks...
What Judge Xinis is banking on is that the government does not want to spend two weeks in discovery. Two big things can happen:

(1) They just make the call and get him back

(2) They spend two weeks creating a public record of their own fuck ups and then get sanctioned

Sorry, America. We can pay cancer research teams or we can pay to fly Trump and his entourage to a UFC fight in Miami. We can’t afford both.

It’s moments like these when we might consider it relevant that the current FBI director who might be charged with investigating this crime appeared eight times on the podcast of Stew Peters, a Christian Nationalist who recently called for a “final solution” to America’s “Jewish problem.”
