You may have seen that 600+ detainees are eligible for release, which is amazing! BUT: you may not know that immigration detainees still have to pay for their freedom-- $1500 bond per person! The Midwest Immigration Bond Fund is raising money to help people get free, please donate: www.mibfc.org

Google is hosting a CBP app that uses facial recognition to identify immigrants, while removing apps that report the location of ICE officials because Google sees ICE as a vulnerable group. @evystadium.bsky.social has more.

I waited a day to say this bc I respected everyone's right to vent some anger, but *remember to focus on what you can do*. Whether it's defending your community, taking action around what you've been venting about, whatever — but don't let all of your energy get captured in the social media space.

One of the most heartbreaking things I learned about while writing my book was the stories of families starved in Mississippi during the Greenwood Food Blockade in white supremacists denied food to Black families. It’s terrifying to thing of this level of starvation on a national scale

This shit is so far over the line. We really need to stop putting up with this clearly insane, clearly unconstitutional behavior.

The rules only apply if they're following the rules, otherwise there is no compact. No agreement. No mandate for power to be given to the branches of government.

The dialogue is a whole other thing but the bit about "fuck you shoot me I'll die for this shit" and the reaction is the crux here, from Gandhi's time on down, no authoritarian in history ever knows how to respond to this and it's why it beats them whenever deployed

There's a case to be made that AI isn't just a bubble, or even a huge bubble, but something like the platonic ideal of a tech bubble.

The reason for this isn't just the enormous sums being sunk into AI, or even the circular investments, but the key enabling factor: The *story* that underpins AI.

This graphic is incorrect. The Cato Institute numbers actually showed only 65 incidents of left-wing violence in the US since 1975, compared with 391 incidents of right wing violence since . That's 6x more political violence from the right. Here's a link to that report. www.cato.org/blog/politic...

I am just going to keep posting that the TX governor recently pardoned a political murderer.

The dude texted "I'm going to shoot protestors", then went and shot a Black Lives Matter protester. He was convicted in a jury trial.

Hard to find a more blatant example of celebrating political violence.
Gov. Greg Abbott pardons Daniel Perry, veteran who killed police brutality protester in 2020
A Travis County jury sentenced Perry to 25 years in prison last year, prompting Abbott to ask the state parole board to review his case.

The way fascists speak one-sidedly (i.e., hypocritically) about the neutral term "political violence" is just another example of their use of social discourse to advance their own power and control. Sartre had illuminating things to say about this sort of fascist rhetoric.

Broadly, self-identified Conservatives also self id with lower empathy than other groups. If your empathy is low enough, you start to lack theory of mind for others, so when you want to explain their motivations, all you can do is project.
