He/him. Pretty queer. Writer when I can actually focus, drone pilot, media enthusiast. Doctor Who stuff happens against my better judgement.
The biggest missed opportunity in Russell T Davies' return to Doctor Who is he cast the first ever fitness culture Doctor and brought back Mel and didn't have them, like, doing chin ups during exposition scenes together or something.

There's maybe no better proof of how deeply heterosexuality has broken brains than the fact that there's Buffy fans earnestly invested in Angel and Cordelia as a romance

it seems very unfair
The pace at which US wealth concentration is rising is simply staggering

The concentration of AI wealth into the hands of a few tech barons + plutocratic capture ==> unchartered territory

Send Help kicked ass. Raimi hitting a good balance between slick blockbuster polish and a feral sicko mode streak. Actors game to match his freak. Gooiest movie in ages. So much fun.

I have many issues with Jodie Whittaker's Doctor Who but the complaint that she didn't watch a bunch of old stories beforehand is so dumb.

You cast an actor to bring their energy to the role. It's the writing that connects to the past. No problem in that run would be fixed if she watched Talons.

Was not expecting the Epstein files validating a bunch of conspiratorial thinking to lead to a whole new era of lefty qanon style conspiracy thinking about Michael Jackson saving children from the evil pedo cabal.

Caught Train Dreams, a very pretty film of a kind I wouldn't seek out on my own if it hadn't been nominated for Best Picture.

Like Hamnet, it's pretty much all surface level emotions and beautiful aesthetics, but it does achieve a power in that. It's truly pretty to look at.

I don’t get why people feel the need to defend Gavin Newsom even if they say they don’t like Gavin Newsom when Gavin Newsom has not indicated in any polling that he’s a stronger candidate than anyone else. If he was running 10 points ahead of everyone I’d at least understand why it was happening.

I mean, come on, if your position requires you to agree with Putin, Trump, and Musk; to ignore the lived experience of children and adults; to ignore the entire medical community and a hundred years of history; and if your only "safe place" online is a child-porn generating website, then maybe...

Support every trans, non-binary or questioning person you know. Speak out for those you don’t. Vote for politicians who want to expand humanity, not shrink it. And for god’s sake, stop buying Harry Potter or the works of those who want to ruin the lives of our loved ones out of their own ignorance.

One of the purest examples of a moral panic in our time. A clinic that had years-long waitlists and required an average of 7 appointments before providing transition care smeared and shut down for being reckless.

The republican faction that has most opposed Trump is neocons. Other factions like business execs or religious conservatives have reasons for, and examples of, opposition to Trump, but Libertarians had the easiest case and the weakest examples. Total frauds, still preoccupied with campus left.
Weird. I tried to warn libertarians about Trump

This is true, and even if we get rid of Trump, we still have to reckon with the fact that a substantial proportion of US economic and political elites were *eager* to jump on the fascism train. They will still be the same people when Trump is gone.
The political dynamics of 2025 were shaped by Democrats and Republicans over-reading Trump's victory in the same way. That turns out to be a problem for a LOT of rich and powerful people who made a very large bet on the theory that MAGA had won the culture war. www.offmessage.net/p/trump-has-...
Trump Has Lost The Culture
And his greediest collaborators are awakening to the fact that they made a terrible bet.

There's a special kind of fatphobic cultural hellscape moment in having to sit through a wegovy ad with "This is Me" from Greatest Showman remixed in the background.

Doctor Who fans are desperate to turn any scrap of information into a narrative about their preconceived ideas of people and it's really fucking parasocial and exhausting.

Lot of people injecting intent from him into this so let me make it clear: this was part of a larger quote I didn't have time to fully transcribe. I highlighted the part I found most interesting as a fan. There's selection bias by me at play. It's not a big bombshell or anything, it's just how TV is
"The two scripts I did for the Jodie era, Chris had heavy influence on those," McTighe says. "Chris wrote the last third of Kerblam" and describes Praxeus as very much a 50-50 story created together. Lucky Day was the first one to feel fully his.
