It's wild. We have so many real problems as a country, and instead a large chunk of our political class would rather hallucinate that one of the safest big global cities in the world is actually dangerous.
The "London = most dangerous place on the planet" discourse is still going strong on Twitter

I've actually been surprised by how little I've felt threatened as a woman in London (having lived in Tooting and Peckham)

I loved growing up in Nottingham, but I had much, much worse experiences there tbh

only in the small print of this article do they make clear that the pensioners paying an extra £2,500 of tax would have to have
“earnings over £125,140”

I know many pensioners are asset rich but how many have income at that level?

I'm not a big MLS fan, but I see the Portland Timbers are playing all their games and even doing pretty well, despite playing in a war ravaged city.

And Powell's Books, the world's largest independent bookstore, is holding book readings pretty much every night.

Impressive. Like London 1940.

Labour seems to be getting on with the job to me, & Starmer is a refreshing change as PM after the last Tory clusterfuck.
If Laura wants to pretend otherwise, let her 🤷

No, no, no. It is not the BBC’s job to ask these questions www.bbc.com/news/article...
How much trouble is Labour in - and is the PM the right man for the job?
Ahead of Labour's annual conference, Laura Kuenssberg asks if the PM is the right man for the job.

I remember the Lib Dems getting getting years of bad publicity for having once debated (and heavily defeated) republicanism but Reform put "vaccines gave the King cancer" on the main stage and all they get is this fluffing in response.
Jesus wept, you have a doctor claim that the covid jab gave the King and the Princess of Wales cancer and this is what you put out?

Not only is it drivel it is completely devoid of any political analysis.
God help us if this is the BBC political analysis

Brexit was an attempted counter-revolution against many of the changes this country has gone through since 1945. It has turned out to be a failure with elements of farce. This has driven many people on the Right completely mad.

It's their only chance. The government needs to govern. Always been true. But now more than ever, given that the previous administration basically stopped governing.

Once again, I wonder whether the judges who awarded the Telegraph "UK News Website of the Year 2024", and also 2023, think their criteria hold up well.
The Telegraph has deleted the seemingly made-up article titled “We earn £345k but soaring private school fees mean we can’t go on five holidays” featuring “Al & Alexandra Moy” from its website... but, if interested, you can access an archived version here. h/t @alanrew.bsky.social
