I just don't see why we need all these car lanes. Everyone knows people don't drive in the winter!

This is a serious situation.
It appears Baseline, Eastbound, will remain closed for several hours. The road has been compromised.
The City is aiming to have the repair completed to reopen the road by PM peak.

I noticed the other day that the former Robin’s Donuts has turned into Rob Lantz’s leadership campaign headquarters. If the past year is any indication, there may be no more appropriate metaphor than the donut for what Islanders can expect from a Lantz led government.

Just completed my annual Jan 10 listening of Arlo Guthrie’s Darkest Hour, for reasons that are obvious to those who know the lyrics

Happened to be in the car this morning when a guest on The House suggested that it was just now becoming apparent that Trump’s motives on the Maduro matter may not have been above board. I’ll assume the theme of the segment was “political analysis by people who recently stopped using finger paints”

In 2024, I rose in Senate QP to ask why the Govt of Canada was still using X for official communications. Today, they are still there. What exactly will it take to break the spell?

Good lord. I just heard the CBC national radio news describe Chrystia Freeland as “still technically a member of parliament”. Technically - as if being a MP was some nebulous, variable, hard to define thing. Our most important institutions continue to fail us,

The fact that the Canadian government's official statement on the president of the United States illegally invading a foreign country does not include the words "President," "United States," "illegal," or "invade" really tells you all you need to know about where we stand, tbh

objectively very funny to roll this new slogan out and then within 24 hours have this happen
Incredible. CBS Evening News announces five new “simple values” — instead of their “38-page handbook” — as they roll out Tony Dokoupil is lead anchor.

One of those values is simply: “We love America and make no apologies for saying so.”

"We're going to spend less time listening to people who are educated and informed" is certainly....a choice.

it is a little disconcerting that none of the people in charge of anything right now seem to know how to do it. like, if you were on a bus and the driver started whipping around all crazy and yelling about how buses don’t need wheels you’d probably be like, hey. this guy shouldn’t be driving the bus

Just managed to take our (possibly formerly?) very anxious, very reactive dog out for a walk around the neighbourhood and only had to correct him for barking and lunging at vehicles a couple of times early on before he completely settled. This has been a very hard-won victory.

look we're all making a big bet on AI! and if it pays off as big as we hope, well, it's going to make a handful of people super rich and you're going to lose your job but get to watch mickey mouse fuck geralt from the witcher. if it doesn't pay off well then you get to pay for the bailouts

In July of this year we adopted Peter, a very anxious, very reactive dog from the humane society. The last 3 months of 2025 have passed like a kidney stone, but I’ll be damned if that dog in the last few days hasn’t figured out *exactly* when we are in need of a hug.
