Peterborough City Council is absolutely responsible for the library cuts. And has the power to fix this mess.
Now under any other business, Riel is saying the Peterborough Examiner blamed council for cutting jobs at the library. Riel says that council had asked for efficiencies to be found in departments. He says he wants to set the record straight.

This applies to every city; parking should not be free: "Sometimes weighing the greater public good isn’t complicated. Removing subsidized street parking to speed up the trip for tens of thousands of bus riders is so self-evidently logical it shouldn’t require debate."
How to end the free ride of street parkers
Car owners should pay full freight for their use of city streets, or cede the space to public transit

At City Council's direction, Peterborough's Public Library is set to restructure, laying off three librarians & eliminating the Children's Librarian role entirely. All to shave $120,000 off a budget of $411 million.

Let me tell you about my city. It has open pockets when it comes to policing and pickleball but nothing for the Children's Librarian.

Three librarians face layoffs at the Peterborough Public Library as the city moves forward with cost-cutting measures. The city says services won't be impacted, but the library union disagrees.

Here's our report on what's happening at your public library ⤵️

These cuts are a recipe for more illness, higher healthcare costs, and less information for people to make decisions about their own health.

They're a recipe for disaster.

Disappointing to see such outdated messaging in this campaign — once again, everyone outside of cars asked to wear reflective clothing etc with minimal focus on drivers and none on street design
