The one call to action people could amplify is a trade and arms embargo on the UAE until they stop arming and supporting the RSF. The UAE is one of Canada and the US’ biggest trading partners in the MENA region.

ICE hit our area hard again today. I spent the morning and afternoon on patrol, and then came home for Understory, the emotional and spiritual support group for activists I co-facilitate. @tanuja.bsky.social was going to cover for me, but I decided I needed to be there, for my sake. I was right.

Seeing pictures of an abandoned tamale cart in Pilsen where ICE took a tamale street vendor. Those photos of left behind carts are so haunting. Community members disappeared. Not just vendors but people who have long standing relationships with the community and people.

I feel like I’m leading two parallel lives. In one, I’m fine. I’m leading a comfortable bourgeois life, I’m healthy, I have food and shelter. In the other, I’m watching the worst horrors, I can barely breathe, I’m screaming into the void, and nothing seems to help. Unbearable.
