Sharon Gilham posted that if the exhibition for wheel of time costumes does well in Prague, it will travel. I can’t afford to go to Europe but I bought a ticket bc I dream of seeing that magic in person.

FYI the price= 350 kr = 17 usd

I don’t understand this thing in new fantasy books in which places have names (usually borrowed from welsh, gaelic etc) that mimic euro-style high fantasy but then the character have modern names like McCoy or Armstrong as given names. Somebody please explain.

“It’s ok I’ll put it in a book” is a super healthy way to disassociate when people continually tell you appalling things and also think they’re being funny

Oooh, good idea! Where can people do that again? I don't have the link. #WheelofTime #savewot
A big move of support would be to sell out the wot costume show. Most people can’t fly to prague but they can buy a ticket.

It’s an absolute treat to watch someone like skeet the wheel of time for first viewing just waiting for the big reveals and character arcs. Ahhhh!

Part of my writing process is organizing fridges and pantries while I think out sentences. Since I do not have my own fridge or pantry this can get awkward.

This is good. Check it out. I need to read the Chronicles of Prydain again to think about them as an adult, but I have a vague recollection of being extremely frustrated with Taran’s journey and really disliking Annlaw. Maybe I was bumping up against it for similar reasons.
Read @annleckie.com 's newsletter, which mentions Taran Wanderer (a book I feel _very strongly_ about,) and I wanted to be slightly more specific about Annlaw being a bad teacher. Teachers who are phenomenally gifted in their art are _often_ (although not always) bad teachers (1/3)

On the second page of the new Pynchon and he’s already dropped a reference to Milwaukee’s old Oriental Drugs. I’m in.

If your Halloween didn’t start with someone exorcist-vomiting at the kitchen table, do you even spooky season?

It will be really tragic if everyone in this house gets a stomach bug and is asleep tonight and I’m forced to eat 3 boxes of candy next week.

I’ve invented a character called THE CANDYSITTER for purposes of doling out candy to trick or treaters and have discovered that I can keep my eyes wide without blinking for at least 3 minutes possibly more. It helps to use a creepy voice.

At this point I’ve seen 5 pirate books that are either out or soon to be published. Dystopian and vampires are also big again. This feels like a comfort respin of the aughties. Trying to figure out if there’s any sense to the slate coming out in the next 18 months

In honor of Robert Jordan’s birthday (and as part of a larger ongoing art project) I’ve sketched him along with a mighty wheel.

I’ll put this in my shop next week—so be prepared for some shameless self-promotion

I'm listening to Nona Hendryx's 1983 album Nona (a Bill Laswell joint).

And wow... the who's who of session musicians is wild.

Bernie Worrell!
Laurie Anderson!
Nancy Wilson from Heart!
Freaking Jamaaladeen Tacuma!
Sly Dunbar!

No wonder it slaps.
