An experienced organizer I really respect once reminded folks "you can't always win, but you can always, always inflict a cost. Those add up."
You cannot match the size and resources of these organizations that are abandoning trans youth and sacrificing trans lives, but you have one advantage they do not: an ability to maintain a relentless focus upon them.

Make it your work, every week, to think about how you can punish them.

The fundamental impetus and ideology of AI is to destroy real people’s professions and lives, while soiling the environment and debasing our most treasured cultural practices, for the vague promise of increasing shareholder profits in the name of efficiency. It’s a “fuck you” to human civilization.
How is AI *really* impacting jobs?

Henley Chiu, the CTO of Revealera, a jobs data analysis firm, analyzed 180 million jobs listings in 2024 and 2025, in an effort to find out. Chiu found an:

-8% drop in all jobs postings
-~30% drop in art, photography, writing jobs
-22% drop in journalism jobs
What’s really going on with AI and jobs?
Record-breaking layoff reports, Amazon's mass firings, and a slump in entry level employment. Is AI behind it all?

As always, today is a great day to support artists, writers, creators of all sorts. If you have the means, buy a book, sign up for someone's Patreon, commission an art piece. It's also a lovely day to leave a nice comment, post a short review, spread the word about someone's work. Everything helps.

it is very telling, to me, that this place has a “Rude” label built-in when one of the things the right wing has weaponized so much online is “polite” bigotry and hate

So when a member of a marginalized group pushes back strongly against that “polite” hate, they get labeled “rude” or banned.
If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

Gender markers shouldn't even be on passports at all in the first place. They are unnecessary and I'm glad Justice Jackson hints at this. They weren't even added until 1972 when women started to be able to travel independently of their husbands and fathers.

I'll also recommend the ACLU. I just sent them the $6 I would have spent on junk food tonight at work. Any $1+ donation gets you a free tarot reading from yours truly. #happyhalloween
I'm upping that to 1, 2, or 3 card readings. If you're not sure where you want to donate, I'll recommend the Animal Resource Center and the World Central Kitchen, but I know there's lots of other places.
I'm offering free 1 card tarot readings now through November 1st to anyone who donates at least $1 or volunteers some amount of time to help people in need of housing, food, or healthcare; animal welfare; or support the Arts.

If you know an organization you'd recommend supporting, please comment.

Worth noting: After the end of the three-year pilot program this year, the Irish government found that for every pound invested, they got 43% profit. Keeping artists alive and financially safe is not just for moral good, it's also beneficial in terms of economics. Just let artists keep making art.
