It started to snow a few hours ago in the Philly area, and I've heard plows on the streets a few times. Stay safe out there, kids.

Alex Pretti, the man ICE executed on the street in Minneapolis today, was a nurse. He had just helped a woman that ICE thugs had pushed down. I am thoroughly disgusted and hope every person involved in Pretti's murder is identified and hauled off to The Hague.

Lex Luthor would throw Stephen Miller out of an airlock on day one.
it is funny how all the fictional monsters we imagined taking over the U.S. for the last 30 years are objectively better people than the current regime. Give me Skeletor, please. Cobra Commander wants to run shit? He can hardly be worse than what we're rockin' today. It's worth a shot!

I was out & about recently & overheard a convo wherein a woman was talking about her recent trip to an all inclusive resort in the Bahamas. She then said she'd love to go to Italy, but plane tix cost "thousands of dollars." It took all of my will-power not to stare at her like she'd grown a horn. 1/

The Mutter Museum just released their new exhibit schedule, and there's one opening in late March called Creative Processing: Art in Therapy. You know I'm IN for that one!

Everybody knows Sinners is in theaters again this weekend, right?

You’re welcome!

It's my favorite time of year: Oscar noms are out. Back when moviepass was generous, I used to see almost everything that came out, & I'd have capital-O opinions. Now I barely see anything, although it has a lot to do with needing the extreme comfort watch of what's familiar (thanks, Danger Yam). 1/

I keep hearing were supposed to be getting a "once in a generation" snow event on Sunday. Uh, I seem to remember getting three feet of snow back in 1996, so unless it's gonna be something like that....

Sadly, this effort is probably doomed because everything Trump touches dies, but this is the ONE thing Trump wants that I would love to see. Our Chevy Spark is a delight, & we live in fear that it'll get hit or die because hardly anyone sells tiny cars in the US anymore.

www.bbc.com/news/article...
Trump says tiny cars are amazing but will Americans actually buy them?
The president wants to bring to the US tiny vehicles, like those commonly seen on the streets of Japan.

This semester's class is going to be funny: my assignment for this next week is to rewatch Poltergeist. Also, I emailed the woman who owns the Poltergeist house to ask if she knows what type of grass is growing. I have...ideas.
So. Looks like I'm doing an experimental nonfiction research project involving the role of the lawn in the film Poltergeist & related to capitalism... and I just discovered the house where it was filmed is on Airbnb. Yep.

Currently pouting: the airline my husband works for just suspended service between my home airport and Zurich until March. Meh.

Having been a Judge of Elections, it's clear that voting has power-- and knowing how to vote strategically and for the greater good is critical. Vote your heart & conscience in the primary; vote with brutal realism in the general.
Never forget that billionaires spend billions to convince you that voting doesn't matter. Don't help them. Voting isn't the ONLY thing we can do, but it is the most powerful check on the executive. "Don't bother voting because there'll be no free elections" is oligarch propaganda.

I swear I did NOT prompt the conversation or immediately interrupt to tell them about MEAT SWEATS. I do have self-control. Not a lot of it, but some.
Currently sitting in a coffee shop, wasting time before my pilates class and eavesdropping on three different tables full of people talking about what am unmitigated disaster Danger Yam has been, from foreign relations to in-country safety to the US economy... and one table talking about cannibals.

Providing my passport hasn't been canceled or Americans aren't banned, my plan is to visit Finland or one of the other countries coming to Greenland's defense for vacation this year. They deserve all my tourist dollars.

This is the sixth death in ICE custody in 18 days. This isn’t enforcement, it’s a system that cages people, outsources care, and shrugs when they die. Abolish ICE.

I just had the weirdest urge to attend a reunion of the now very much defunct Philly dance club, Revival. But only if it's in the same space, with same smoky environment with the smell of choice cigarettes and hair spray in the air, the same delightful freaks frolicking to very good alternamusic.

Just threw two ice cream bases in the freezer: dark chocolate and chili, and standard vanilla. The dark chocolate is going to have the rest of my apricots mixed in, while the vanilla will get the figs from my trees that I dried. The one thing I can do with a busted shoulder is eat ice cream.
