Today's #sotd is one I picked up in Prague last month (details in alt text). It makes me think of sitting in the backyard of my childhoood home in rural PA while I picked dandelions & the farmers were bailing hay nearby. Sort of a creamy green scent. 💗 It was an instant buy for me. #perfumesky

I've been trying to finish my homework, and Myrtle is determined to prevent it. She has wedged herself behind me on the couch and refuses to let me get comfy. #dog

Someone at the South Philly IKEA has a hilarious sense of humor.

Post you from a different era.

Not an archeologist, 1993-ish (that's me on the right, with my mom on the left).

I'm all over this weekend for book events. Tomorrow I'll be in Haverford, PA, and on Saturday I'll be in Bucks County (Doylestown). See you at one or the other?

On Saturday I'll have copies of A Misfortune of Lake Monsters, Bodies Full of Burning, & The Trajectory of Dreams. Be afraid!

Why yes, I DID get official notification on Halloween that I've been offered admission to a masters of philosophy program for a course of study related to gastrohorror.

Interestingly, while we've had a good time in Prague, it's a city I'm not sad to leave. I think maybe it's because our hotel was in the wall-to-wall tourist section, & that never feels good or real. I'd give it another chance if we stayed in, say, the Holesovice neighborhood.

The trains weren't that complicated, although there was an element of mystery & uncertainty coming back to Prague...and Craig was feeling unwell that day, so I was on my own while he napped at the hotel.

On our way home now from a week in Prague. The highlight was definitely lunch at Taro, which is a Vietnamese fusion restaurant. I also loved visiting the Sedlec Ossuary, as much for the adventure of navigating the Czech Republic regional trains as communing with the bone church itself. #travel

I finally broke down and started a Tiktok account for my writerly stuff. If you're over there, please pop in to say hello. It's lonely out there for an Elder Crone. #booksky

There are times I pass a house in my area and feel compelled to be friends with the residents.

Local horror 🧠 trust at Char & Stave last night, for a discussion panel on horror hosted by the delightful Mavey Books! Really great crowd, & a few folks dressed in costume, which I loved! Horror people are the best people!! #booksky

It was a fun time today to yak about place/location in horror writing with @v-e-tirado.com, Christopher D. Ochs, & moderator Steve A. Wiggins. And I got to wear my new dark orange velvet jacket. Hey, I'm easily made happy! Horror & velvet for everyone!! #booksky

If you find yourself in Easton, PA today (Sunday), do swing by Stigal Museum at noon for the panel I'm sitting on: Places in Horror! #booksky

I know how to have a good & fruitful Saturday. Started with a Pilates class, had fun at a Spirit Halloween store, hit one of the No Kings in Delco (this was 30 minutes prior to the start time--it ended up being a ton of people along Baltimore Pike, lots of cars beeping).

We're about ten rows from the orchestra pit at the Academy of Music for an Evening of Horror with the Philadelphia Ballet. Thanks to Girls Love Horror for these kick ass seats... the Lizzie Borden ballet was delightful!

Well, it's official: there's no way to finish the ground pork capelet as planned--I'm down to the last dregs of yarn & no way to get more because of Danger Yam/GOP policies. Grrr. So, I think I might frog back to omit the last pattern section & make it shorter. Not ideal, but at least it'll be done.

Halfway done with the capelet knitted of ground pork-colored yarn. I'm not sure I've got enough yarn to finish, but hope springs eternal. Since the start of Trump's tariffs & his ending of the de minimis exemption for mail, I have zero option to buy another skein in this color. :( #knittingsky

Weeee! At the very last election training of my term as Judge of Elections. Just had a nice chat with the head of elections who is reading A Misfortune of Lake Monsters at the moment. It's so odd (and fun) when my worlds collide!

The ground pork-esque colored capelet knitting has commenced.
