every author in the class action, please file the claim.
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action
Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.

Today's #sotd is a Prague brand I picked up when I was on vacay there a few weeks a go (details in alt text). It's very chocolate-vanilla forward... at first. It dries down to a sort of grimy, musky version of a gourmand. #perfumesky

I should have my head examined, but I am considering swinging by the 35th reunion of my HS class in a few weeks. I blame Grosse Pointe Blank for making it seem potentially exciting.

And my photoshoot is postponed until next Sunday in account of wind. Alas.
Just finished up packing a box of props for my author photos photoshoot scheduled for tomorrow. That includes two dozen lemons and two cuts of beef.

Yes, I found a photographer as unhinged as I am.

I feel weirdly tall today. And that's a big order since I'm 5'2".

I broke down last night and made a (refundable) hotel reservation for Amsterdam. Maybe we'll get there in December, maybe we won't--but at least I have a place to sleep if all goes right. I've wanted to see the light show forever, so this yay!

For #FossilFriday & in honor of @alinemghilardi.bsky.social & colleagues' fantastic discovery of a new Cretaceous pterosaur in Brazil in a dinosaur regurgitalite ("fossil vomit"), here's a diagram I made for my book 'Dinosaurs Without Bones' (2014) showing the physics of a puking brachiosaur. 🧪🦕🤮🪨

Today's #sotd is one I picked up in Prague last month (details in alt text). It makes me think of sitting in the backyard of my childhoood home in rural PA while I picked dandelions & the farmers were bailing hay nearby. Sort of a creamy green scent. 💗 It was an instant buy for me. #perfumesky

I'm so freaking cold in my office today that I'm seriously thinking about digging out my Icelandic Lopi sweater (which is good to 8 billion degrees below zero, I swear).

I always have the best time doing podcast episodes about gastrohorror, horror and mental health, and horror writing. Just finished recording with a writing podcast over my lunch hour--it was a blast!

Today's genealogy tidbit: a not all that distant cousin (I mean, a few generations removed, of course) married the son of Alvin York in 1946. Who is Alvin York? A pacifist who ended WWI as one of the US's most decorated soldiers, earning a Congressional Medal of Honor & the French Croix de Guerre.

As I often do, I'm making a wish into the ether: I want a publisher to hire me put together an anthology of fiber arts-related short horror. After serving a Editor for Bodies Full of Burning for Sliced Up Press, I know it would be 🔥.

If the govt shutdown ends & air travel gets back to normal by early December, there's a strong probability that we're heading out for a long weekend to hit a European Christmas market. I'm learning toward Amsterdam, almost entirely because the Light Festival will be happening. Plus, my favorite 1/
