A Government of cowards.

Rather than tackle inequality - they've gone for pensioners, disabled people and now it's people fleeing war and persecution.

They can't get away with this.

Starmer’s anti-asylum policies show how utterly clueless he is about the right-wing media’s role in politics.

He’s trying to fix a “problem” contrived by Farage, GB News and The Telegraph. He’ll never win, because ultimately he’s fighting a ghost – he’s fighting something that doesn’t really exist

There has been a bad imbalance in the political classes thinking about what control means + how it combines with decency and fairness.

Labour did eventually challenge the Idi Amin Memorial Tribute of the Tory deportation bill - but why does the PM now think deporting refugees is "border control"?
Asked if Keir Starmer believes British people want to "see refugee children pulled out of school and deported after 10 years in this country”, his spokesman says that “what the British public wants and what this government was elected on a mandate to deliver was to secure our borders"

Perhaps the public deserves to know if this person is responsible for the hateful, hideous proposals.
After 14 years of Tory austerity, corruption, privatisation and no investment in essential public services, a cruel Trump tribute act is not what Britain needs.

Sultana might be a better fit with Polanski's new-vibe Greens than this group, tbh. The YP project is so dead now it has little chance of meaningful impact other than splitting the left vote.

I also sense we might see the first Labour-to-Greens MP defection over these disgusting asylum proposals.
What on earth is going on here? It looks like he fell out with Sultana and then fell out with Corbyn a few hours later?

I just want a government that is morally *better* than this.
People arriving here by small boat are desperate, often traumatised. Latest figures are 68% of boat arrivals granted asylum (see link)

The idea of the govt stripping people of their valuables & then hawking it off literally makes me sick to my stomach

Confiscating jewellery from survivors of a war zone makes you look like a fucking Nazi. And the obscene thing is, that is the intention. It's there to look appropriately harsh. Indecent. Filthy. A moral stain. And no-one of good character would have ever proposed such a thing in the first place.
