Our world in stupor lies;
Yet, dotted everywhere,
Ironic points of light
Flash out wherever the Just

May I, composed like them
Of Eros and of dust,
Beleaguered by the same
Negation and despair,
Show an affirming flame.

Not to be too hyperbolic but I feel like price discrimination at this granular a level, if done at scale, kinda takes a sledgehammer to some of the fundamentals of microeconomics.

I love this concept, New York City as a “great processing station of Americanization.” I’m proud and lucky that my Jewish ancestors went through that processing station 100 years ago.
3/ in a way it may be best to see New York City as a great processing station of Americanization, it's a remarkable degree of continuity over more than 250 years and to a degree approaching 400 yrs. It's notable that the New Yorker most identified with the founding generation was in fact ...

One of my earliest moments of radicalization was in 2005 when Larry Summers said that women biologically have less aptitude for science than men. Following that, scores of equally unimpressive people wrote pieces trying to explain or justify his remarks, when they should have called for his removal.

I was a grad student at Harvard when Larry Summers said the reason women were underrepresented in science was natural aptitude. Love to see this news.
