There's a weird little part of my brain that almost looks forward to seeing ICE thugs coming up against UWS Karens insisting on their right to vote.
We will not be intimidated into staying home. We will keep the late John Lewis in our hearts as we head to the polls to drive the likes of these ghouls out of power and out of office.

Shocked that the company that was willing to drop it's DEI initiatives as soon as it encountered pushback would similarly be quislings when it comes to protecting their employees and customers.

(Maybe it seems like I analyze everything through the lens or race and sex, but it's hard not to.)
I particularly enjoyed the Target posters (below), but everything here is great. racketmn.com/the-art-of-t...

The abundance of ways in which we have failed this generation makes me so ashamed.

A 5 year old girl is planning to make traps to keep bad guys from "taking mommies and daddies."
Interviewing a 5-year-old about how they're worried because "bad guys are taking mommies and daddies" is not something I ever thought I'd do.

Madiba is one of the finest public intellectuals of the age. Her book is part scathing indictment of conservative jurisprudence and part joyous call to action. It’s brilliant, principled, and honest. Alito wishes he were her.

Read it. Dog ear it. Buy it for a friend.

Despite the ongoing death and suffering in Gaza, it's fallen out of the news. So today, @thenation.com is devoting its full website to stories from Gaza, written by reporters who have been there. Very proud of the magazine today.

One type of hate is the gateway drug to the next.

I have a misogynist cousin who spiraled from resenting women to increasingly unhinged rants on FB about: gays, trans folks, Black ppl who don’t agree with him, and the list, sickeningly, goes on.

It’s why we need to closely examine *our* beliefs.
No one should be surprised that the guy who cosplayed an SS officer — and helped lead a militarized immigration policy rooted in white supremacist “invasion” conspiracies — also engages in overt antisemitism. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/31/u...

Yall, the moment I was in a local meeting, and these middle-class, middle-aged folks looked at each other and said “what can we do if they try to come for our neighbors?” was simultaneously the most frightened/proud I have felt about and for the place that I live and the people I live with.
"We're on our own" "no one is coming" is a common strain in this online discourse. But rather than absolutely rightful fury or cowering fear, this has awakened true, hyper-localized government of/by/for the people: feeding each other, protecting each other, demanding end to occupation by regime.

We really might be all we’ve got.

And if that’s true, what are you going to do today to save yourself and your loved ones?
One powerful narrative strain from close analysis of commentary about, & most critically from, upstanders in MN is true dawning no one is coming to save them. Justified belief some force will intervene shattered & alongside incredible moral purpose & community cohesion, catalyzed current heroism.

Please stop believing that there are any limits to what these people will do.

Please.
Still can't believe the latest Epstein Files release just casually confirmed the anti-SJW movement was planned by pedophiles.

"The entire reactionary anti-woke backlash was masterminded by child traffickers" is the kinda shit I'd say as hyperbolic agitprop, but it was true the whole time.

There can be no civilized society as long as cops exists.

This is just barbaric and cruel for no reason.

Think how frightened you were when you lost sight of your parent/caregiver for just a minute at his age.

Now imagine it’s your parent, your school, your friends, your toys… And it goes on for what seems like forever.

How will these kids ever be ok?

The more we place the levers of power in artificially intelligent hands, the more power we turn over to the tech magnates who program and own AI.

At this point, the only thing preventing the realization of The Matrix is the sheer inefficiency of humans as perpetual batteries.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.
