ProPublica workers have been at the bargaining table for *two years* and are still waiting on management to step up with a fair contract. They're at over 80% on their strike pledge, which is how you know it's serious. Show them some solidarity! Strike fund is here:

always bears repeating that this is NOT a financial decision. jeff bezos is worth over 250 billion dollars. he can afford to lose many millions and never even notice it. this is, at its core, a political and personal decision by bezos to destroy the post

My mother died from cancer in 1992. She was 37. I was 8.

These trials offered hope that fewer 8 year old boys would bury their 37 year old mothers due to cancer.

historically, that did in fact happen when the concept of handwashing before delivering babies was developed, and a lot of very offended male doctors killed a lot of women and infants as a result.

self-important wealthy men become offended when someone tells them to follow procedure, constantly.
I don't know if non-lawyers understand how insane this statement is. I honestly can't think of anything remotely comparable in non-lawyer speak. I guess the closest would be a surgeon saying "Imagine if I had to wash my HANDS before doing surgery!"
Mike Johnson speaks out against the use of judicial warrants in immigration cases:

"Imagine if we had to go through the process of getting a judicial warrant"

I love the idea of visible mending, especially since there was no way I could patch this and not have it be obvious. So it gets to be one more butterfly on this shirt.

Watching Gaiman try and squirm his way back into public view and somehow turn all his past horrors into PR for the new book he somehow has coming out was probably predictable... but ngl I am deeply enjoying watching him get roasted on some other platforms and hope we can get that energy going here.
Rich abusers are like video game bosses who, just when you think they are dead, change into a final form. Once you have airtight evidence of their crimes and make it public, you still have to defeat their comeback PR campaign.
Wooden stake? Silver bullet? Fire? How do we keep these people from coming back.

Oh these are -fun-. NGL I love both but I'm also perpetually too broke to buy all the cool pins I otherwise would but go check this out.

Not about anyone here but: have you ever seen someone who seems to be the equivalent of the “no take, only throw” meme but for attention? I have a few times but it always somehow surprises me because it feels like such an empty way to interact with people.
