Bad Bunny's historical advisor is an assistant professor at UW-Madison.

Hell of a flex for your tenure file.
Not at all surprised to learn that Bad Bunny has a historical adviser. His halftime show was a reminder that our history and culture are deeply intertwined with the rest of the western hemisphere. We should think of his performance as part of #America250. #SuperBowl

Pop star Bad Bunny needed a Puerto Rican history scholar. UW–Madison had just the one.
Bad Bunny collaborated with UW–Madison history professor Jorell Meléndez-Badillo on Puerto Rican narratives that accompany the new album “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.”

We need to forbid law enforcement from using facial recognition tech *and* other private data like this. Full stop.

Because if they have access, you can bet ICE and CBP do too.

yes! More treating people as if they are human
South Tucson Mayor Roxy Valenzuela rejects calls to increase policing as a response to rising homelessness.

“Sometimes the best people to offer those resources are not the cops — it can be a community member or a clinician,” she says.
Facing Arizona’s Crackdown on Homelessness, Two Cities Offer Different Responses
State intervention has led Tucson to ramp up sweeps and pass harsh new policies. Officials in the small town of South Tucson have emphasized support and services, even as they face blowback.

At our town hall on Tuesday, one resident, clearly shaken about ICE, noted that she now carries her documents with her wherever she goes. Her statement, "I'm relying on each of you to keep me safe," was from her heart, and is something I'm carrying with me and reflecting on frequently.

I’m on the scene at Franklin and 1st. A convoy of about a couple dozen ICE/HSI agents broke the entryway into an apartment building at 6am. No warrant presented. Less than 24 hours ago, Tom Homan announced the end of large convoys in Minnesota… Bullshit.
