"Democratic socialism looks like everybody having housing, everybody having food and — and maybe nobody having an 18th yacht or vacation home."

It was great to sit down with WUWM (89.7) to talk about the history of socialism in Wisconsin — and how we’re making history in the legislature, right now.

A free press cannot function if the government is able to exercise veto power over critical reporting simply by refusing to engage.

The public has the right to question how CBS will ensure the independence and integrity of its journalism going forward.

Long story short: Trump's labor plan is to force out "non-native" people for the supposed benefit of white, male "native" Americans (no, not the actual indigenous ones.)

It would be horrifying if it succeeded, but it's failing by Trump's own metrics. It's killing jobs & destroying good governance.
One of several tables in @mtkonczal.bsky.social's post explaining that "even after sacrificing real prosperity to chase this 4chan-level political economy, [Trump] still won’t achieve" the economic goals he claims to be chasing.

We're getting calls from folks around Wisconsin thanking us for introducing this bill package -- it's clearly popular.

We can cut property taxes nearly in half *and* fund our K-12 schools by having the rich pay their fair share.

(And income taxes would *still* be lower than they were in the 80s!)

"The problem of inequity in education is a massive structural problem. We’re not going to fix that by nibbling around the edges of it…"

Property taxes are a terrible way to fund K-12 schools. We can and should tax the rich instead.

We taught our kids that bullying is wrong. It’s wrong when kids do it, and it’s wrong when the Trump regime tries to bully hospitals into denying medical care to children. I’m grateful to the many individuals and institutions pushing back and am proud to stand with them. www.wpr.org/news/wiscons...

Thanks to WORT FM for having me on to speak about our tax package which would cut property taxes by 44%, equitably fund public ed, fund local priorities (like pools, libraries, mental health and transit) - and which won't cost a thing if you're not a millionaire. www.wortfm.org/state-rep-ry...

I’m grateful to Director Fons and the MPS School Board for passing a resolution tonight in favor of our package of bills keeping for-profit colleges in check. As a former high-school teacher, I’ve seen firsthand the harm that for-profit colleges have done to students and our community.

Much value was generated, shareholders nodded wisely, etc.

In seriousness: the “AI industry” is the tail wagging the dog. We need to regulate it before it becomes uncontrollable.

(There are good uses of machine learning but they mostly already exist. And don’t need massive data centers to work.)
Wait so Disney buys stock from OpenAI and OpenAI pays Disney in stock to license its characters? Amazing
Sources: Disney's Sora deal is entirely in OpenAI stock rather than a cash licensing fee; Disney has the option to buy additional stock beyond the $1B stake (Bloomberg)

Companies like Starbucks put a *lot* of resources towards stopping their employees from unionizing... but they also bust unions by refusing to give unionized employees a contract. They'll simply walk away, or refuse to come to the table at all.

It's still union busting, and it's still disgusting.
The scene is looking lively in Nevada!
