G and H shelves now also done! 🎉

Shelving C to F sorted. Yes I'm going to have a significant problem with G which is likely to push H to the next shelf down 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

Not seen, technically, but the last episode of Cabin Pressure was the opposite of GoT in that it retroactively made the entire series even better – and that took some doing. (I suppose one could argue that Cabin Pressure is the Platonic opposite of GoT in practically every way.)
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc

Veggie cottage pie, veggie cottage pie 🥰 courgette, carrot, red pepper, leek, shallots, mushrooms, chickpeas, fresh tomatoes, tinned tomatoes topped with mashed sweet potatoes/potato mix + grated cheese.

Before and after cooking, this will give us both a hearty meal for a further two days 🥰

It’s tough. It’s grim. And the world stage is frightening.

But.. we still have each other. Most people are peaceful, helpful and compassionate.

May 2026 be a year of shining more light on our collective goodness.

Well the task of #SortMyBookshelves has reached the epic achievement of A and B 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣
The right-hand side still has many C books to sort and accommodate which are distinctly unlikely to fit before cascading down onto the next shelf down (currently D-H) #BookSky

Spent way too much of today trying to sort my fiction shelves.

The non-book stuff (apart from book shelf pets) are 'elsewhere', stuff in translation is on the bottom two shelves but not spaced correctly #BookSky

And Terry Pratchett didn't give us the Boots Theory just so you could not know it.

I read 85 books this year.

I bought ~200 books this year.

My 2026 resolution is to use the library more.

(Nevertheless, my 2026 preorder list has 14 books on it… so far.)

I'm asking John - and indeed all journalists - as a new year resolution to stop comparisons with a national economy and a household budget.

How many years have to go by until we can have coherent conversations in the media about the economy?

General reminder of the words of proud son of Virginia, Major-General George H Thomas. The "Rock of Chickamauga". Who, unlike Lee, stayed loyal to the Union.

Post-war he had views on 'Lost Cause' and the damage it would do to America, unchecked.

A “counterfeit varnish of patriotism” he called it.

This is a slap in the face for the labour movement.
