Here's a time-lapse from yesterday as thousands of people marched through downtown Minneapolis to protest ICE.

people aren't protesting because they want to make a point, they're doing it because they feel like they have to. because they've been forced to. because circumstances are totally and completely intolerable

This is not materially different from Josef Mengele. The concept is to deliberately expose people to serious harm so you can gather more data on what you already know will hurt them. It's not some big coincidence the Nuremberg Code expressly prohibits everything resembling this kind of "science."
RFK Jr. appointee Kirk Milhoan has just clearly stated, out loud, that he wants to experiment on the people of the United States by seeing what happens as vaccination coverage plummets and infectious diseases spread.

“I looked around and nobody was saying anything, so I didn’t either.” Use your voices folks! Sometimes it only takes one to get things started.
Which was pretty out there, even compared to what LRH had been teaching them to that point. And here’s what stuck with me: one woman who was there says later, something like, “Well, it seemed pretty crazy to me. But I looked around and nobody was saying anything, so I didn’t either.”

My specific experience is with NIH, but I’ll stand up and say it:

The people who work at NIH are together one of the great wonders of the world. US biomedical science, cancer cures, dementia research all are built on their talent and dedication.
For some reason, very few people these days will stand up and say it, but: the US federal bureaucracy is one of the great wonders of the world, staffed with incredibly diligent people who do their jobs well and care deeply.

Trump's destruction of the federal apparaus was a historic crime.
The Purged
Donald Trump’s destruction of the civil service is a tragedy not just for the roughly 300,000 workers who have been discarded, but for an entire nation.

Where are all the “originalists” on the 1A protections for a free press??
Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

Just so people outside of MN know - a lot of the US citizens getting “arrested” by ICE never get processed at Whipple. They are roughed up during the arrest and then often dropped off miles from where they were picked up. It means we don’t know the true scale of what ICE is doing based on ICE stats

Hah!
We should only fund research that will have huge impact and not fund research that won't. Fortunately, these are easy to distinguish.

This is so incredibly heart-breaking. To Jay Bhattacharya and Matthew Memoli at NIH--you have betrayed the entire scientific community. Deeply committed staff are leaving in droves--because you are destroying the institution. Shame on you. www.statnews.com/2026/01/10/n...

Some folks are pissing me off by acting like this (likely, but not yet for sure) huge win is just something that coincidentally happened

And not acknowledging that it happened as a result of tireless organizing and activism by brave and dedicated colleagues

Good thread about thinking about audiences when giving a talk.
Since I'm putting together a talk this week and I've put together a lot of talks in the last year for a variety of groups, I'm going to opine a bit about giving scientific talks. The tl;dr is you have to think about who your audience is and what they want/need from you at every single step. 🧪

Once again, I implore media outlets to stop saying these are CDC decisions.

These are changes being made unilaterally by RFK Jr. against the expert advice of CDC scientists.

I note that RFK Jr. no longer recommends flu vaccine for kids in the midst of a horrible influenza year.
CDC overhauls childhood vaccine schedule to resemble Denmark in unprecedented move
The new U.S. guidelines recommend all children get vaccines for 11 diseases, compared with the 18 previously on the schedule.

Both plaintiffs and defendants have submitted a joint document outlining their agreement. Judge Young must sign off on it before it takes effect.

This was never about immigration laws; it's always been about ethnic cleansing. Miller and his Brownshirts won't be stopped by the courts; they've repeatedly told us that. The only language they know is force. If they can ignore courts with impunity, we already live in a lawless society.

RFK Jr. is going to end CDC recommendations for most childhood vaccines.

It will take a few years before the deaths and disabilities ramp up to a level that even the most vile Republican cannot tolerate.

RFK Jr. will be long gone and unaccountable, as our babies die from preventable illness.
