Anyone know what’s going on with this carrot? The orange splotches on the ground literally dripped out of it—consistency of honey, approximately. Nearby carrots were fine.

Hmm, maybe I should have picked this radish a little sooner. 🌱 #gardening

I had natives planted in wide swaths of my yard last fall. First iris bloomed today. Irises are my favorite! 🌱

I have a newborn! And looks like the other egg will hatch soon. 🌱 🥲

When the eggs have hatched, I will fill the tube with water and put fresh milkweed in it, then put the caterpillars on the milkweed. They attach to the roof (usually) when they pupate.

Mine is far from blooming, and most of it has been chomped down by the resident bunnies. I haven’t even seen any butterflies yet! But this batch happened to come up safely inside the garden fence and lo and behold: eggs!

First monarch eggs of the season! I will leave most of them outside (where the majority will become someone else’s food), but it is so satisfying to shepherd some of them to adulthood. 🌱 🦋

They look like this. We’ve seen them for sale in the UK but not the US

My first attempt at bagels (these are Montreal style, a new concept to me). I will definitely need more practice, but they aren’t bad. More completely cooked than they appear. #breadsky

Think I have all* of my new seeds now! Spring can come any time! 🌱

* Plus the ones leftover or saved from last year, of course, and there might yet be an impulse purchase or two. Why do I always seem to need more garden space??

Oh yeah. Sourdough today. No fancy designs I’m afraid. 50% whole wheat.

Poor guy. Our cat lost exocrine pancreatic function at age 9, probably due to pancreatitis that wasn’t caught in time. The solution was to feed her raw pancreas for the rest of her life—8 more years! A local slaughterhouse supplied it for us.

Not sure—is this also a Pearl Crescent? From my garden a few years ago and it’s my phone lock screen now.
