Some people do my head in.
This arse is one of them.
Why TF would we care about his business…? Did he care about all the SMEs bankrupted by Brexit? Does he feel any anxiety or shame about just how much that stupid idea has cost our country and many of us personally.
No.
He can absolutely do one.

This is where "failure to recognise the context" kicks in. At the same time as the authoritarian right are working themselves into a frenzy about Starmer, almost all of his public statements have been designed to appease them and alienate his natural constituency of people who find that repellent

It should be illegal to play Christmas music in public spaces after Christmas.

Enough. You've been playing it since November, and it was always terrible.

Many of us don't see the enormous damage inflicted on the NHS, as few of us have day to day contact with it, same for Higher Eduction, Social Services etc.

Pretty much all of us experience the state of the roads daily.

A metaphor for everything the Tories fcked up over 15 years.

Never forget.
Tory Curse.

Pothole compensation claims made to councils in Britain rose by 90% between 2021 and 2024.

Only 26% of claims led to a payout.

A friend, night-worker had to replace 4 tyres this year, pay for steering damage.

Boosts GDP but destructive.
Pothole claims up 90% in three years, says RAC
Research from the motoring group also finds that only one in four claims results in a payout.

@joedromey.bsky.social should read the replies

give him a bit of an insight as to how screwed labour is

here's the thing: if labour hadn't abandoned every single value the party is meant to represent then they would view the greens as allies

fact that they see greens as an enemy is very telling

Brilliant article that not only paints a more honest picture of this human rights defender but puts our right wing press to shame. The arc of this story proves their willingness to foreground racist far right activists’ propaganda.

Can’t even give a straight answer or follow the rules on their unbelievably naff merch.
So on brand.
Oh well. You sell or wear one of these, you’ve told us all we need to know about you.

The moment you accept that depriving a specific citizen of their citizenship and attendant rights is an acceptable punishment, doled out by politicians, not courts, you accept that as an acceptable punishment for *any* citizen. The precedent is set.

There isn't even a slippery slope from depriving a dual citizen of citizenship because they (arguably) committed a crime, and doing so to someone born in the UK who is only a UK citizen for the same thing. It's a short walk.
Ask this question and its follow-up. Like Begum before him, Alaa el-Fattah is being used as a crowbar to shift reasonable people - even some progressives - into a space of thinking that full citizenship, if granted recently or dual, is retroactively conditional or attracts a lower class of rights.

Putin has indicated Finland and Poland are next on his hit list.

It is to America's shame that Trump and his team are enabling this murderer.

The revocation of citizenship is a fundamental and brutal discretionary power of the state.

One of the more depressing themes in recent judgments is how the courts nod-along and shrug when faced with this brute exercise of fundamental power, rather than subjecting this power to anxious scrutiny.
