Robbie Gibb should have been ruled out of the running for the BBC Board in 2021: it was clear he'd been closely involved in setting up GB News - an ideological project aiming to rival to the BBC, & therefore a clear conflict of interest. The fact he was still allowed to join always rang alarm bells.

Many of you are citing Arkell v Pressdram.

This is why that robust approach would not work in these circumstance.
Some have suggested that the BBC should adopt the reply given in Arkell v Pressdram.

Alas, that only really works when you can stand by your journalism. But here the BBC mucked up.

BBC can defend and defeat this claim, if made. But it is in a less strong position than Private Eye was then.

Rupert Lowe is both promoting the death penalty (in some cases) at PMQs + championing that inciting murderous violence [he tweeted: this was a Muslim "heads must roll" + get out + do it + hide your identity + anybody protecting the Muslims is a traitor] should not be policed/prosecuted at all!
Rupert Lowe is very soft on crime - if those crimes are committed by members of an in-group (those members of the majority group, who express violent prejudices against Muslims, minorities or migrants, and who incite lawless disorder against Muslims *and* those who oppose violence against Muslims)

In 2015 Cameron won an overall majority, and it was thrown away by May in 2017 because of Brexit.

In 2019 Johnson won a thumping majority, and yet he was out of office less than three years later.

In 2024 Starmer won a thumping majority and seems to have no idea what to do with it.

29 May 2024 Farage said he was boycotting BBC as he alleged a BBCQT was “rigged” and “dishonest” because the audience called him out & the snowflake couldn’t cope..

He appeared on Kuenssberg just 6 weeks after his boycott, BBCQT, BBC News etc

So this performative BS is him chasing headlines again🙄

The problem is... they're not allowed.

Rather than shipping them off to army barracks all over the country, it's time to let asylum seekers work.
