I don’t know who needs to hear this but politicians who balance the books on the backs of the most vulnerable people are making the absolute opposite of a “tough choice”. It’s the weakest, most craven, most cowardly, most puny behaviour.

In the 1930s, when Ethiopia was ravaged by Italy, it appealed to the world to insist that all be held to international law, not might makes right. They were abandoned. Later, Western powers were shocked at Germany doing to Czechs & Poles what they had let Italy do to Ethiopians.

It kills me that there's enough for everyone.

Enough food. Enough housing. Enough medicine. Enough money. Enough everything.

It takes active choices to stop everyone from having enough so a very, very few can have far too much.

There is no calamity so huge that there is not beauty and humor and joy to be had in the moments between actively working on solving or evading it.

Learning to take those moments, embrace the hell out of them, is what will make it all worth it, at whatever point you reach the end.
