I do mostly think Tolkien was genuinely not thinking about any kind of left-right politics that would be legible to us but it's still so crazy that guys who make their money from data centers are reading about evil wizards tearing down forests and going "I know which of these guys I am!"

Too many people who should know better are acting like Democratic victories in 26/28 will be the end of everything. And while those are worth fighting for, better than the alternative, and good first steps to repair we are too far down a certain path for it to be a conclusive chapter to the story.
