The lack of mainstream coverage of regular huge protests reminds me of a talk from a Twitter employees who explained that they had to drop BLM off the Trending Tags section because otherwise it would have been there permanently. The modern media environment has no appetite for sustained movements.
The crowd has no beginning and no end as it begins its march to the White House

In summary:

- This call campaign needs to last at least a month
- As many calls as possible, so bring your friends
- Make sure each call lasts as long as possible
- Each time you make a call, mention it's not the first time you've called about this
So, WFM guy here, I crunch call center numbers all day and advise management on performance and staffing requirements. Here are some concrete goals to keep in mind with any sort of calling campaign: 🧵

Call call call. Visa is literally begging us to stop calling and send emails. Calls cost them way more money and they can't use key words to filter them out
Welcome to the weekend! You made it sailor. Which censorious payment processor would you like to call first? Thanks to my moot @dieselbrain.bsky.social for the Stripe number, can confirm it works

The last supplement to talk about in my Blue Sky re-intro is for Anyone Can Wear the Mask by @jeffstormer.gobirds.online

A very cool 1 - 3 person game about a superhero, a supervillain, and the city they share.

If you haven't already been, get connected with your local mutual aid groups, local political organizing groups like WFP or PSL or DSA, talk to your neighbors.

We're going to need to protect each other, it's only going to keep getting worse.

If anything, perhaps Andor was in fact more prescient about this moment than some can stand:

every day a Latine person wagers their desire to survive against the will to resist while 5 powerful white people debate how much they're willing to risk and what's the least threatening way to risk it.

i feel like i'm gonna be saying this a lot on the book tour, but for any critics who've already read NOCK LOOSE: the 'moral' of the story is that violent resistance against oppressors and oppressive systems isn't only justified, it is necessary -- and cool!

I haven't seen the same outpouring of support for Rodney Hinton, Jr. that we saw for Luigi Mangione. GoFundMe took down the fundraiser for Hinton, who is accused of killing an officer shortly after he watched bodycam footage of police killing his 18-year-old son.

Still on about this

I'm going to use "like a sommelier or an omakase chef for TTRPGs" in every pitch moving forward, because yeah, yes exactly
People said really nice, very kind things about me on a podcast today and I feel like I could rip a phone book in half

Screaming at these people works. They’re fundamentally wimps, we just have to actually DO the screaming instead of preemptively admitting defeat.

I am talking about my fellow Americans, not the Democrats. We actually need to scream, gang, not just complain that Schumer isn’t.

Girl, I don't have human rights NOW
“Can ChatGPT experience joy or suffering? Does Gemini deserve human rights?” our tech columnist asks. “Many A.I. experts I know would say no, not yet, not even close. But I was intrigued.”
Should We Start Taking the Welfare of A.I. Seriously?
As artificial intelligence systems become smarter, one A.I. company is trying to figure out what to do if they become conscious.

"Criminal" is a social construct, not a personality or an inherent trait. Some things people do are very bad and are allowed. Some people get arrested for feeding the homeless or protesting land destruction. No one should be tortured, even if they did bad things.
ALSO EVEN IF SOMEONE HAS BEEN PROVEN A CRIMINAL THROUGH DUE PROCESS THEY DON’T BELONG IN A TORTURE PRISON BECAUSE NO ONE DOES EVER.

One thing I wish people understood about authoritarianism is life often looks more or less the same. Troops aren’t marching down the street every day; people go to restaurants, have their office jobs. But everyone knows that stepping out of line, even slightly, can derail your life with no recourse
