My other personal reason to join BlueSky, is a European one. 'Strategic autonomy' is needed per yesterday and requires enormous investments in defense & energy. But the 3rd branche is the info space.

Musk isn't done yet. He'll now try to sabotage European democracies, using Ex. We shouldn't let him
When Trump is gone, let's make sure no one ever votes for a malignant narcissist again - anywhere. This is really about educating ourselves, recognising the traits and understanding what it means: narcissists are BY DEFINITION incapable of serving the general interest & representing the population.

Excellent news that France now seems to act against Russian shadow fleet tankers in the Mediterranean. That means Finland, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK could do the same along the St Petersburg route.
Another clear point scored by Macron! 👍🇫🇷🫡🫡

Wow. Turns out 'Bored of Peace' is a PRIVATE Trump club, and with the ONE BILLION contribution per member yet another insane personal enrichment scheme. It's extreme corruption in broad daylight. How American voters swallow all this is beyond me...
Media may not have noticed that Trump’s Board of Peace Charter was drafted so that the US need NOT ratify and become a party.Trump’s current status as US President is a necesary stepping stone but his unitary rule in the new international organisation would be personal, permanent and even hereditary

Newsom: Europe is paying the price for appeasing Trump during phase 1. Completely agreed. We signed an unequal(!) trade deal, only to be betrayed again. That's on us: GRAVE NAIVETY. Really hoping that's over now - eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth should be the minimum reaction. Drive up the cost!
Gov. Newsom at Davos rips into world leaders who think they can appease Trump: “I should have brought a bunch of knee pads for all the world leaders.…this is pathetic”

Europe's sucking-up strategy (Rutte & others) has failed to achieve ANY results - from Ukraine, to NATO, to tarrifs. Following the renewed threats on Greenland, we should call out the first one with week knees - and follow those with a backbone (Macron etc). Pls read @phillipspobrien.bsky.social:

Arctic security can only be achieved together.

This is why the proposed additional tariffs are a mistake, especially between long-standing allies.

The EU and US have agreed to a trade deal last July.

A deal is a deal.

And when friends shake hands, it must mean something.

Let's help everyone on both sides of the Atlantic become aware that giant European loans keep the American economy afloat.

European politicians shouldn't make the giant mistake of concessions again. Any tarrif should always be answered with at-least-equal counter measures. Learn from China & Canada
Deutsche Bank here with the good stuff.
Game on.

"We will not let ourselves be blackmailed." Now everyone repeat.
Sweden’s Prime Minister, in a new statement on Greenland:

“We will not let ourselves be blackmailed… Sweden is now having intensive discussions with other EU countries, Norway, and the United Kingdom for a coordinated response.”

Nice. And yes. I must admit I always thought the French were just being French. Turned out they were right, all along!
If you listen very carefully, you can hear Charles de Gaulle screaming I BLOODY TOLD YOU SO from some rural French cemetery.

Great take. I'd like to add that it is not just the US SC (& society + Congress) that has to express "economic coercion for territorial expansion" is unlawful (and unacceptable) - it's also up to Europe to stay put (bc a precedent of acceptance is extremely dangerous). That REQUIRES retaliation.

My hot take on Trump's tariffs against European countries:
1: they constitute economic aggression in order to acquire territory. Europeans will remember this for decades to come. They mean very serious damage to the transatlantic bond on all time horizons.
January 17, 2026 at 8:29 PM
10% tariff? Hit back with 20! Here's why Europe shouldn't give an inch on Greenland. This one is unwinnable for Trump:
Republicans are trying to scare Trump back to reality as he talks about taking Greenland by any means necessary.

GOP Rep. Don Bacon predicted it would lead to impeachment and calling Trump’s Greenland obsession “the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.”
‘Dumbest thing I’ve ever heard’: Republicans amp up their resistance to Trump’s Greenland push
GOP lawmakers are stepping up their warnings and engaging in diplomacy as the president's threats escalate.

Activist Ilia Hashemi reports that some Iranians briefly regained internet access early Saturday, allowing them to upload footage from Tehran, Isfahan, and Mashhad. The videos, filmed around Jan 8-9, show fires and clashes, including at a state TV building in Isfahan.

I'm baffled that Trump's betrayal of the Iranian protesters does not make HEADLINES ANYWHERE?! 🤷‍♂️

He literally encouraged them to take to the streets, promising protection against violence. Now many thousands of Iranians have been machine-gunned down. And what does Trump do? Golfing. Utter betrayal.
At least 12,000 people have been killed during protests in Iran since Trump posted this 11 days ago.

"Why should🇺🇸continue to have access to these bases, or receive support from allies’ naval assets, air forces or intelligence services, if it tries to take sovereign territory from a NATO member like Denmark? The alliance is already broken, officials say, so why not threaten to cut ties with America on military collaboration?

Trump's probably had another phone call by his friend Vladimir. Today he made the idiotic statement that in Iran 'the killing seems to have stopped' 🤯 So much protesters' blood on his hands, if he now just drops it and goes golfing....
Trump's promise to the people of Iran ("keep protesting, we're loaded") feels more and more like what the Soviets did with the Warsaw Uprising.

Protestors are now machine-gunned down, without any response. Two days ago, estimates already at up to 20.000 deaths.

Trump? Suddenly gone silent on Iran.
