My other personal reason to join BlueSky, is a European one. 'Strategic autonomy' is needed per yesterday and requires enormous investments in defense & energy. But the 3rd branche is the info space.

Musk isn't done yet. He'll now try to sabotage European democracies, using Ex. We shouldn't let him
Whatever new strategy, please include two words:
1. Initiative (be the actor, not the reactor),
2. Retaliation (in case you still have to react).

Only way to reclaim ground and be effective.

(HUGE task for news media here, to inform population - and ask the right confrontational questions.)
OPINION: The intense diplomatic maneuvering to end the war in Ukraine has revealed a troubling reality: Even when it comes to its own security, the EU struggles to be a central player.
Europe’s psychology of weakness
It’s time the EU ditched its failing strategy of “react, hope, repeat.”

For those who appreciate a bit of POETRY, I recommend this 23-minute speech by Economics Professor Paul Krugman (winner of the 2008 Nobel Prize in Economics).

If there is any bit of soul left in the Republican base, now is the time to rise up. These folks could press the reset button of Planet Earth if they thought they could somehow 'make a deal' for personal financial benefit. Everything combined that is quite literally what the Trump clan is doing... 😡

Also FAAAR more cost-effective, then spending billions and billions on 'improved resilience' (but always fully focused on defense, in stead of offense). If you establish the culture shift ('Turkish model') that any strike means tougher retaliation, you'll suddenly find yourself living in peace.
This has always been the missed point: with any of the unwanted actions by Russia the simple math - as a standard policy design - should always be to make the cost of the action larger than the benefit.

This definitely means retaliation - always. Have it ready, hurt.

Teleurstellend.

In Canada, the realization that, with Trump at the helm, America is an enemy, not an ally, is slowly setting in.
Carney: We know that this decades-long process of our ever-closer economic relationship between Canada and the US has ended. And as a consequence of that, many of our strengths have become our vulnerabilities, particularly in those industries that are most tightly integrated with the US….

Three things about the Witkoff tapes:

1) It appears Western intelligence services have decided to let Witkoff (and Trump) know they have recordings of their traitorous conversations w/Russia.

2) This Ukraine "deal" was all Witkoff's idea.

3) Congressional leaders should demand he be fired.

Anecdotally, while I was looking for a source to refer to for this article with the search words ”Russia rejects US peace plan”, I found media articles on that topic from November 2024, February, May, June, September, and October 2025.
Made an effort to establish a timeline of this latest iteration of essentially the same old attempt by the Trump administration to force a peace deal, doomed to fail like the previous three times.

The number of plot twists would have been amusing, if it wasn’t so cruel to Ukraine.
