Obviously all of these efforts gained visibility & power & funding online but none of it works without that offline community.

If you care about this work, the most basic & profound thing you can do is figure out how to plug in to your community

I keep thinking about something that people on so many sides of this have pointed out: the protests in Minnesota worked because of on-the-ground organization that built on existing, off-line connections. This should be tremendously instructive to all of us.

People should not have to be perfect victims to not be murdered by the state or by a racist game show host and his lawless den of jackals and elite pedophile cover up conspiracists, but still HOLY SHIT MAN
New: Alex Pretti, the man killed by the Trump-Vance mob of agents was an outdoorsmen, a mountain biker, an ICU nurse who "would go out of his way to help," say Veterans Affairs colleagues.

Cheerful. Funny. Gentle.

And still, per sources, Trump officials are urging staff to call him a "terrorist."

Zeteo spoke with two doctors who worked with Alex Pretti, a nurse who is the latest victim of Trump’s violent invasion of Minnesota.

When they lie this obviously & shamelessly about their murder victim, a neighbour who was helping his neighbours and was attacked for it, when there’s video EVERYWHERE showing the ridiculousness of their lie, then you know for sure that they’re lying about literally EVERYTHING they say.

Everything.
Noem lies shamelessly: "An individual approached order Patrol officers with a 9mm semi-automatic gun. The officers attempted to disarm this individual, but the armed suspect reacted violently. This looks like a situation where an individual arrived to inflict maximum damage and kill law enforcement"

@saveonfoods.bsky.social This is a bad look. One of your stores is supporting a NIMBY movement against a school. Why? Is it corporate policy that schools in growing neighbourhoods are bad for the neighbourhood?

Dipping in and out of watching the Council meeting today, but caught Nan with a soft spoken banger of a speech.
Nan Gregory, an older Point Grey resident, voiced what she wants her city to be. She’s opposed to the proposed property tax freeze, as all speakers so far have been.

Breaking: ABC Vancouver just voted unanimously against a staff recommendation to finance a DTES Community Land Trust and aquire an SRO building under community control, against the requests of community members and advocates.

This is going to make homelessness worse.

The American empire that has sheltered capital for so long is starting to crack. This is a moment of opportunity as well as of peril. A little bit of optimism of the intellect is called for, if only to jump-start the optimism of the will.
