If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

Senate Democrats need to hold the line. No healthcare, no deal.

Mainers want a Democratic Party that fights for them, not one that rolls over.

When we fight, we win.

This is why progressives don’t like the Democratic party. They always sell out. It’s no wonder they struggle to beat Republicans

I want to reiterate that countless conservative judges issued universal injunctions against the Biden administration, and the Supreme Court never halted the practice. Now, barely five months into Trump's second term, the court puts an end to these injunctions. A brazen double standard.

The governor of Connecticut, Ned Lamont, just vetoed a pro-housing bill and endorsed Andrew Cuomo. He needs to be primaried ASAP. What a pathetic joke.

also, just further evidence that Cuomo is the NIMBY candidate

Tonight, I'll go home and sleep in my bed. I have a lawyer, I'll get due process.

But Edgardo, whose arm was ripped from mine by ICE agents, has none of those things.

That's why I'll keep coming back to court, week after week, to make sure that people's rights are protected.

*arrests people doing it the right way*
Fuck ICE
Hi, this is Meg Barnette, Brad's wife.

While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE.

This is still developing, and our team is monitoring the situation closely.

Fuck ICE. Fuck this administration
NYC Comptroller Brad Lander was just arrested by Trump’s ICE agents because he asked to see a judicial warrant.

This is fascism and all New Yorkers must speak in one voice. Release him now.
Here's a longer video of Brad Lander's detention just now inside 26 Federal Plaza as he tried to walk a man out of immigration court, by masked federal agents.

CEO pay is up 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay is up just 24%.

Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?

This is some authoritarian shit. Noem said since Harvard won’t give her disciplinary records on students, she’s terminating their foreign exchange student program immediately, and ordered that foreign students must transfer to other schools or have visas revoked.

Bullying students and schools to provoke fear and silence dissent is how we trade democracy and freedom for authoritarianism. This will affect nearly a third of Harvard's students. We cannot be silent.

@magaziner.house.gov @reed.senate.gov @whitehouse.senate.gov As your constituent, I demand that you do the same thing. Organize a group to go to El Salvador and demand Kilmar’s return.
Mr. Abrego Garcia was illegally abducted by the Trump Admin and, by their own admission, wrongly deported to El Salvador. He shouldn’t have to spend another second away from his family.

I'm flying to El Salvador tomorrow morning to check on his condition and discuss his return.

Another instance of privatizing profits and socializing losses. Rich people, corporations, and those with knowledge of Trump’s plans all had the capital to buy the dip and immediately profit off this announcement. Meanwhile, working class and poor people are left at the mercy of volatility.
Live updates: S&P 500 soars 7% after Trump announces 90-day pause on tariffs, raises taxes on China
Facing a global market meltdown, President Donald Trump on Wednesday abruptly backed down on his tariffs on most nations for 90 days, but raised his tax rate on Chinese imports to 125%.

NEW STUDY found that “the growing number of SUVs reduced the vehicle capacity of freeway lanes in Minnesota’s Twin Cities by 9.5% between 1995-2019. Their findings suggest yet another way in which ‘car bloat’ exacerbates problems that affect everyone, regardless of how they travel.”
How SUVs Are Making Traffic Worse
As larger, taller sport utility vehicles took over US roads, they also aggravated highway congestion, according to a new study. It’s yet another ill effect of “car bloat.”
